Over the past few weeks, I’ve had the opportunity to lead experiences in so many different ways: an in-person creative wellness session at the Wellbeing at Work Summit in Los Angeles, an in person mindful art experience for Ritual, a hybrid trust-building workshop for L’Oréal, and a global virtual watercolor meditations session for Houzz.
Different formats. Different goals. Different groups of people.
What they all had in common were incredible clients, meaningful conversations, and the opportunity to help people connect through creativity.
Building something of your own is deeply rewarding, but it can also be challenging. There are always questions, uncertainties, and moments when you wonder if you’re making the right decisions.
This was a reminder I needed to hear:
“Should I take a safe job or one that might make me happier but less safe?
There’s a Japanese concept called Ikigai. Ikigai is the intersection between what you love, what you’re good at, what the world needs, and what you can be paid for. It is the bliss and purpose and intention behind what you’re doing. It’s the reason you get out of bed. It is your purpose for being alive.
If you’re lucky enough to find something that sets your fu***ng heart on fire, then disregard everything we think we think. Get out of your head. Get out of your way. Go create the life that you want.
Because safety is an illusion. Happiness is a choice. And everybody’s going to die.
So go get ’em, tiger.”
