SFA Symphony Orchestra The Symphony Orchestra is the flagship orchestral ensemble at Stephen F. Austin State University.

As the flagship orchestra at SFA, the Symphony Orchestra offers high-caliber performance opportunities to undergraduate and graduate music majors as well as nonmajors. Founded more than 20 years ago, the ensemble has been under the direction of Dr. Gregory Grabowski since 2019. Thrilled to announce this great opportunity for graduate string students!

The Elliott String Quartet maintains an exciting performance schedule, including two on-campus recitals each academic year. Special funding also is available for coaching sessions, touring and travel to participate in chamber music competitions.

As a quartet, you'll participate in the SFA Symphony Orchestra, facilitate weekly orchestra sectionals and perform as a lab ensemble for graduate conducting students.

Active members are offered up to $20,000 in financial assistance for tuition and expenses each academic year.
