Another 5/8 Upton. This one is for Kevin Shiflett. Bohemian pattern, removable neck for travel, Rev Solo pickup, patina‑style varnish, spruce top, and strung with Gamut plain gut strings. A great slap machine for the country/rockabilly player, as shown here by Jack.

A stunning 2025 Arnold Schnitzer. Round back, beautiful wood choice, rich varnish, C‑extension, Rubner tuners, ebony board, and the spot‑on geometry Arnold is known for. This bass speaks effortlessly under the bow with a cohesive, pillowy presence that fills the room. Priced at $48,000 and ready for its next owner.

The latest Upton Concord, for Donald Rez. Sugar maple with ambrosia touches, flat back, corduroy top, and beautifully flamed neck. Fully carved and sounds as great as it looks. We’re proud of this one.

You’ve seen this one before… and we’re still ridiculously proud of it.
Our Sapele Prescott‑copy five‑string. Big 4/4 body, the signature busetto corners, outside linings, purfling everywhere. Built true to the Prescott heritage, but with modern Upton playability. Made simply because we wanted to make something special – and it's availabel at $40,000. Get in touch if you're interested in a bass that is as beautiful as it is thunderous.

A perfectly proportioned 3/4 2019 German bass built by Rubner just came in. Impeccably maintained by its owner – pretty much no signs of use. Solid wood, classic German tone, light, healthy, and ready to play. If you’re hunting for a clean, modern instrument at $7,500, this one’s a gem.

A sweet little Thumhard‑labeled bass just landed in the shop. 5/8, flat back, beech neck, ebony board. Labeled 1814, but the date is debatable. With the right Upton setup, this will be a killer small‑pattern jazz performer with tons of character. Priced at $12,500.

The quick version: this Concord model kicks butt.
Sugar maple with ambrosia figuring, and amazing neck flame. A full body with Karr‑style upper bouts that makes it easy to reach around.

2026 Concord for Donald Rez – a thing of beauty.

2011 Guy Cole • Avalon Studios
A smaller‑pattern bass with a big voice. Quick, present, and very responsive under the bow. A setup aimed at orchestra playing, but the bass also works well for jazz. C‑extension, Sloane tuners, healthy ebony board. Well maintained and healthy with a nice wear pattern. A high value bass for an advancing player.
Available now at Upton Bass at $20,000.

Another 5/8 ready for its owner. This is the Veneto, our violin corner model developed from the Bohemian. Truncated string length, removable neck, C extension. It took the Spirocores a minute to open up, but now it's got a voice that'll stop you mid-sentence. If you're dreaming up something like this, talk to us.
