Before the runway, before the gallery walls, before the opening night — there is the story of place.

Last month, we gathered at the Velvet Mill in Stonington, a historic site that connects us directly to the inspiration behind Luxe CT: Velvet Mills to Modern Runways.

The exhibition traces how textiles, fashion, labor, identity, and material culture have shaped this region from the precolonial period to today.

Opening June 26 at Mystic Museum of Art.

A look back at a beautiful spring celebration of artwork by students, teachers, and volunteers in KTJ Studios.

The walls were filled with color, creativity, and pieces created by artists in the MMoA community. Friends, families, and visitors had the chance to slow down, look closely, and celebrate the work being made right here on the river.

We’re looking for an ambitious, organized, and results-driven Director of Development to join the MMoA team.

This role will lead fundraising, membership, grants, major gifts, and special events, helping support the museum’s mission and continued growth in the community.

A little reset before the next chapter.

Before gearing up for our next deinstallation and upcoming summer exhibition, the MMoA team took a morning to pause, connect, and get inspired together.

We started with breakfast at Puffins, then visited Avery-Copp House Museum for a field trip filled with history, creativity, and a much-needed moment to step outside of our usual rhythm.

It was a thoughtful reminder that museums are shaped not only by the art on the walls, but by the people, stories, and care behind the scenes.

MMoA Summer Camps 2026 registration is open.

This summer, young artists ages 3.5 through 15 can spend the season creating, exploring, and getting inspired through 10 weeks of art-filled programming from June 22 through August 28.

Campers will explore drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, sketchbooks, gallery inspiration, collaborative projects, outdoor activities, games, and plenty of take-home art.

Half-day and full-day options are available, with Junior Studio Camps and Specialty Camps offered by age group throughout the summer.

Spots may be limited, so families are encouraged to register early.

Final days to see Coast to Coast: Views of America by Mystic Artists at MMoA.

On view through May 31, this exhibition follows Mystic artists beyond the shoreline, with views of America captured from Connecticut to California.

Admission to the current exhibitions is free, and MMoA is open daily from 11 AM to 5 PM, making this an easy stop before the galleries shift into their next chapter this June.

Stop in before it closes.

A little sea shanty for the next generation of artists.

The Young Artists Showcase is currently on view at Mystic Museum of Art, featuring imaginative work by local student artists, including these nautical mixed media pieces full of whales, ships, texture, and storytelling.

The showcase is free to visit and on view through May 31.

The museum is open 7 days a week, so stop in before the end of the month to see the current exhibitions before the galleries close in June for the next installation.
