Dear Carolina Master Chorale Family,
We have extraordinary news to share — and we could not be more thrilled. We are overjoyed to announce that Dr. Alyssa J. Cossey has been appointed as our new Artistic Director & Conductor!
As many of you know, we had planned for next season to feature four talented guest conductors while our search continued. But sometimes, the music finds you. From the moment we connected with Dr. Cossey, we were simply overwhelmed — by her artistry, her vision, and her remarkable qualifications. It became clear very quickly that she was the one we had been waiting for.
Dr. Cossey has spent the last twenty years successfully leading choirs in academic, community, and professional ensemble settings including at the University of Arizona where she was a third place winner of the Dale Warland American Prize in Conducting for her work with the University Community Chorus. More recently she served as the Associate Director of Choral Activities at Coastal Carolina University and the Interim Director of Choral Activities at Wellesley College. We are confident that her leadership will inspire our musicians and move our audiences in profound ways.
And the timing couldn't be more fitting: she will lead us into a season called "Sing Joyfully" — a title that perfectly captures the spirit she brings with her.
