"This past weekend, our Locked-In students took New York City by storm, and I am still in absolute awe of their talent, dedication, and passion.
There is something remarkable about watching young artists walk through a city that never stops moving. New York thrives on ambition, determination, and dreams, and throughout the weekend, I saw those same qualities reflected in every one of our students.
Amid the hustle and bustle of crowded streets, flashing lights, and endless possibilities, they held their own with confidence, curiosity, and a genuine love for their craft.
They had the incredible opportunity to work with Broadway professionals Andrea Patterson, Angela Birchett, and Maya Bowles, gaining insight from artists who are living the very dreams many of these students aspire to achieve.
They experienced the magic of live theatre by seeing productions such as "Chess" and "The Lost Boys," along with another Broadway show of their choosing.
They explored some of the city’s most iconic cultural landmarks, including the Museum of Broadway and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, taking in the history, artistry, and inspiration that surrounds every corner of New York.
What made this trip even more special was watching the support system behind these students. Our parent chaperones were there every step of the way, encouraging, guiding, and celebrating their children as they chased their dreams. Seeing those moments between parents and students was every bit as meaningful as the experiences themselves.
This weekend was unforgettable. I hope these students carry these memories, lessons, and inspirations with them for years to come. If this trip proved anything, it’s that their talent is extraordinary, their futures are bright, and the dreams they are pursuing are worth every step of the journey." 🙌
