Hello Atlantic Stage fans -

I know it’s been a while. I wanted to give you a peek at what I have been up to lately. I am now the theatre teacher at the Academy for the Arts, Science and Technology here in Myrtle Beach. I teach advanced high school students in an intensive theatre training program.

We are producing their Senior year show, which is All in the Timing by David Ives. If you have an interest, the tickets are only $8 online at aast.ludus.com.

And if you aren’t able to make it to the show, but would like to help grow the next generation of theatre artists, you can also use that link to contribute to our scholarship fund. It is awarded to our top student each year and I have some really great ones this year!

Thanks for listening!
-Mindi Penn

A few weeks ago, our loyal patron, Don Baker, suggested a topic for a future episode of the podcast. Today, Pat, Jason, Mike, and Kaleb take a deep dive into the differences and similarities to the actor's approach of playing a character made famous by another actor vs. originating a role. Mike and Kaleb are joined this week with the ladies of the Catch Up and Clue In podcast, Dara Potts and Amelia Dobbs. As two recent graduates from Coastal Carolina University's Theatre program, Dara and Amelia share their perspectives on a wide range of topics. How do two post grads navigate a job market that has been temporarily erased by the pandemic? What sort of responsibility does theatre have when it returns in the climate we find ourselves in? And why is it that all the theatre people made podcasts when they couldn't be on stage!? All of this, as well as their own podcast Catch Up and Clue In, are discussed on this weeks episode!
