What an amazing final year for the Oakbury Haunted House. We collected $953 and MD Roofing matched and rounded up making this year’s total donation to the Rhonda Brown Breast Cancer Foundation $2,000!

These past 7 years have flown by so fast, and a lot of you have been a huge part of that. I want to thank all my family, friends and neighbors that feed helped design, build and run the show every year. It can not be done without you. I want to thank the entire community for your support and donations. A massive thank you Chris Hunt of The Sodfather Lawn Service, LLC for the countless hours and hard work. I thank my kids for all their help stapling, painting, scaring and front door managing.

Most of all: I need to thank the woman that made it all possible. Katie Ann is not only a VERY patient wife for allowing me to transform our home into a month-long house of horrors, but she is also the one who researched and purchased every single scary animatronic and decoration that made the Oakbury Haunted House what it was.

I just left court and the county decided to fine me $375 but has yet to release the name of the person that complained under the Freedom of Information Act.

The Haunted House will be open for its final night on Halloween from 6:00 pm-till the trick or treaters stop coming. Stop by and test your wits…if you dare! Admission is FREE!

Last year y’all donated $1,000 to the Rhonda Brown Breast Cancer Foundation through the Myrtle Beach Fire Department and that was matched by MD Roofing for a total of $2,000.

On Saturday night we raised $544. Let’s close out October 2023 strong and blow that out of the water.

Thank you everyone who came out tonight to see our Halloween decorations. Over 500 brave souls traveled through our haunted halls and we raised $544 for the Rhonda Brown Breast Cancer Foudation. We will get everything reset and recharged and be ready for Trick-or-Treater on Tuesday.

For seven years, what is now the Oakbury Haunted House which has always taken place in The Farm at Carolina Forrest has been a beacon of joy and excitement in our community. It's not just a Haunted House; it's an institution that brings our community together and teaches our children valuable lessons about raising money for charity. Every year, local kids volunteer at our house instilling valuable lessons and great excitement. All proceeds from the Haunted House are donated to the Rhonda Brown Breast Cancer Foundation through the Myrtle Beach Fire Department, with an equal amount matched by MD Roofing. It has been celebrated by WMBF News and WPDE ABC15.

However, this tradition is under threat. The Horry County Code Enforcement plans to cut off power to my home during its operation in October - a decision that would affect not only the event but also disrupt life for my family our three children living in that home.

I believe this is unjust and detrimental to both our community spirit and charitable efforts. We're asking you to support us in urging Horry County Code Enforcement to allow Oakbury Haunted House to function without disrupting power supply.
