📼 THE BACKROOMS REVIEW IS IN! 📼
Last night I finally checked out The Backrooms (and yeah, I still need to see Obsession), but man, what a ride.
Full disclosure: I didn’t know jack about the deep internet lore going into this, so I’m keeping this review 100% spoiler-free! 🤫
Here is the verdict: 5 out of 5 stars. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Cinematically speaking, this is hands down the best horror movie I’ve seen all year. What makes it so exciting is the pure DIY ethos. A 20-year-old filmmaker—Kane Parsons—taking limited resources and turning them into unlimited, terrifying results. It honestly captures that brilliant, raw energy of the classic 1980s shot-on-video (SOV) horror films.
The story is incredible, the dialogue is fantastic, the acting is top-tier, and it delivers twists you absolutely won’t see coming. It’s the perfect double-threat: if you want to look deeper, it offers psychological, philosophical, and AI commentary. But if you just want a movie that is scary, suspenseful, and masterfully crafted, it delivers exactly that.
The future of horror filmmaking is looking incredibly bright. Go see it!
