4. They supported me in every way possible. They gave me an environment that I could not only grow in but flourish. They encouraged me to continue my education. So I did just that and got my GED. They took care of all the expenses. I attended college at Northwest Shoals and I have 64 credit hours in computer information systems, coding, electronics, computer hardware and software, networking, PC problem determination etc... the last time I checked my GPA was very close to perfect, either 3.82 or 3.87. I made the Dean's list a couple of times, one awards for highest grades in computer information systems. I officially became a Certified Computer Technician by passing the COMPTIA A+ certification exam.

3. Then, I met a girl! She was beautiful, funny, smart but most importantly, sincere. We began dating, got engaged, and then married. But wait, let me back up. After we were engaged but before we were married, I sat down with her mother. Her mother looked at me and asked me this question "How are you going to support our daughter?" And I simply answered with the truth "I don't know." They loved me, they encouraged me, they showed me that a family that loves without violence is possible.

2. School was beyond difficult, I was a straight F student. I actually dropped out of the 7th grade after repeating the 6th grade three times. I'm pretty sure I missed way many more days of school, every year that I was in school, than I was supposed to. I was belittled and ridiculed by my teachers for something I had no control over as a child. The worst part of the whole school situation was no one ever stepped in. No one ever helped me. No one ever came to my rescue. Some of you may have questions just like I did, but when your dad is gambling buddies with the truancy officer's husband, that really explains a lot. Yes, it happened back then, just like it happens now. That good ole boy's club!

1. Some people would say I was raised in an abusive home, I was raised in hell! As early as I can remember, there was always something bad happening. I almost saw it all! Fighting, alcohol, drugs, blood, bruises, broken bones, drunk driving, I could go on and on. I vividly recall one night sitting on my dad's lap after they had a near-death fight and I asked my dad "if mommy dies, am I going to live with you?"

P.S. This is my journey, my story to tell, If you don't like what I have to say, get off my page and sue me.
