Even though the video or the run didn’t come out how I wanted I still love watching it. This run was not perfect. It was in an arena we’ve never ran in and an open setup that we don’t have a ton in of experience with as a team. I’m proud of the good moments we had. We may have ran a mile past the third, but when I asked Dottie to turn she sat hard and did it making it a really easy fix for next time we run in that type of setup.
So much of barrels is hauling to new places and experiencing different arenas, cities, and environments. A horse can get really solid in one arena or setup then be completely green in another. Making a well rounded horse that can thrive in any arena, any place, and any setup is what makes it fun for me. Maybe I’m greedy, but I want a horse that can go to a barrel race in one state one week and a pro rodeo in another state the next with maybe some ranching or a hunter pace in between. Dottie and I are not there yet. Our journey is still in the works. Until then I’ll be manifesting the dream 🙌
