May I philosophize about FUN for a minute, please? 😊Most people over about 25 or 30 years old begin to realize that it’s the simple things in life that are the most profound, right? And sometimes the really simple things are the most FUN, too. At our TVUS get-together on June 8, we sure had a lot of fun! We all felt the usual friendliness and camaraderie, but somehow it seemed even sweeter. Maybe it was the extra lightheartedness (is that even a word???) and maybe it was the fact that our leader, Bob Carmichael, who always has a great list of songs for us to play, kept telling us how good we sounded: "Wow! You guys must’ve really been practicing!” 😊🎶 Another plus was the fact that one of our regulars, Laurie Hoskins, brought in an array of acoustic instruments to add a little oomph to backup our music, adding even more musical fun to the day.
Then at OPEN MIC TIME, Sam Kessler, a popular long-time friend of TVUS and occasional visitor who plays the uke professionally, entertained us with a beautiful classical piece by Chopin, and also an Irish jig, which everyone joined in on. Later, when we all played the Hawaiian favorite, “The Hukilau,” three of our multi-talented TVUS ladies who know hula danced for us as we played.
Get yourself a Ukulele. Have some fun! 😄
