Fight! Fight! FIGHT!! ⚔️🔥

Fight choreography day for HENRY V and things are getting even more exciting over here!

There’s sword work. There are daggers. There are bruised egos (the characters’ - not the actors’). And watching these seasoned combatants work through this choreography with precision and skill is honestly pretty darn thrilling. 😀

And in the round? The action feels incredibly close and immediate (while still being carefully choreographed 😉). You’ll feel fully immersed in the battles, the speeches, and the chaos.

Opens June 12.

SOMEONE MADE THEATRE POSSIBLE FOR US ONCE. HELP US DO THE SAME. 🫶

With our Fund A Student campaign, we’re working to make sure more local kids have access to an unforgettable theatre experience through Summer on Stage: The Mirror Project.

At Murphys Creek Theatre, we believe no child should be excluded from the arts and learning the craft of theatre because of financial barriers. PERIOD!

Not because tuition is too high.
Not because supplies cost too much.
Not because a family is already juggling too many impossible choices.

Theatre is for everyone. And for many young people, this is where it starts! ✨

These programs are about so much more than putting on a play. They build confidence, friendships, collaboration, empathy, and a sense of belonging that can stay with a young person for the rest of their life.

If you’re able, we hope you’ll consider helping sponsor a student this summer.

Thank you for helping us keep theatre accessible, welcoming, and community-centered for the next generation. 💖

💗✨

Ready for something a little epic this summer? 👑⚔️

Henry V opens in THREE WEEKS, and things are getting very real over here.

Our FIRST-EVER production in the round officially hits the stage June 12, with audiences seated feet from the action as a young king (played by Robbie Allen 🥰) attempts to convince himself, his country, and his exhausted and stressed-out soldiers that this whole war thing is definitely going to work out!

The story? Huge.
The energy? Intense.
The stakes? Basically, an entire country. Yep. An ENTIRE country…😬

All at five to one odds.

And yes, if you’ve been thinking about those ON-STAGE seats, now would be the time.

First blocking rehearsal for Henry V, and things are officially underway. ⚔️👑

There’s strategy. There’s drama. And this! Your first POV glimpse of our exciting new staging in the round. 👀

Yep. You can literally sit on the stage, inches from the action, while this whole glorious underdog chaos unfolds around you.

And for a first rehearsal? This show is already shaping up to be the ultimate glow-up story of all time. Just sayin’.

Opens June 12

Yesterday’s first read-through of Henry V and folks… 👀⚔️

There were speeches. There were suspiciously passionate discussions about French tennis balls. There were at least a few moments where everyone collectively realized, “Oh no… this play actually slaps.”

And Robbie Allen? Already giving “reluctant king with a glow-up arc” energy.

Rehearsals are officially underway for MCT’s first-ever production in the round, which means audiences are going to be RIGHT in the middle of the action this summer.

Basically: things are getting very Shakespearean very quickly around here.

Henry V opens June 12. 🎟️ Pay-What-You-Can and Pay-It-Forward tickets available for every performance because great theatre should actually be accessible.

Dear parents and grandparents… THIS IS IT! 📣

There’s only one week left to register for The Mirror Project, and we’re just saying: your kids are going to think this is WAY cooler than another summer of staring dramatically into the fridge looking for snacks…

Students ages 9–17 step inside a real production of Shakespeare’s Henry V. Working directly with mentors, they rehearse where the professionals rehearse. They perform where the professionals perform. Honestly? That’s a pretty solid summer flex. 💪😎

For many young actors, this becomes the summer they discover confidence, creativity, lasting friendships, and a place where they truly feel like they belong.

And opportunities like this? They’re pretty rare around here.

PROGRAM DATES: June 15–July 12
PERFORMANCES: July 11 & 12, 2:00 PM
Limited financial assistance available.

REGISTRATION CLOSES MAY 22ND!

Flashback to one year ago, when our Executive Director got one hop closer to true Calaveras local status at the Frog Jump Jubilee. 🐸✨

We love being part of this wild and wonderful tradition and celebrating the community spirit that makes Calaveras County so special.

Good luck to all the frog jockeys out there today — have a GREAT jump! 💚

Ever wanted to read a play before anyone else does? 😲

Quill to Act is MCT’s new play festival dedicated to taking brand-new scripts from the page to the stage, and we’re looking for volunteer readers to help us discover the next great story.

As a reader, you’ll get early access to original, unproduced plays and help decide which scripts move forward to staged readings this fall… and which one could become a full MCT mainstage, world-premiere production in 2027. No pressure. Just the future of theatre…

If you love theatre, storytelling, dramatic reveals, wildly specific stage directions, or being the first person to say “I read it before it was cool,” we’d love to have you involved! 😁

📖 Read at least three scripts
📝 Complete a short feedback form for each script
⏳ Submit reviews by July 15

Tick-tock… 🕰️

There are officially LESS THAN TWO WEEKS LEFT to sign up for THE MIRROR PROJECT before registration closes on MAY 22.

This is where young artists:
Train with professional actors
Learn real rehearsal techniques
Perform on the ACTUAL MCT mainstage set of Henry V.
Show all of us old actors the secret to thinking outside the box as only a youth can.

Not “summer camp with theatre games.”
Actual rehearsals. Actual stage combat. And an actual production. ⚔️

If your kid has ever been even slightly curious about performing… this is the moment.

Because after May 22?
The castle gates close dramatically behind us. 👑

So… England looked at their dead king’s party-boy kid and were like:
“You’re king now! Also we’d like to take back France. Good luck! 👍🏼”

👑 UP NEXT: HENRY V 👑

HENRY V is Shakespeare at his most thrilling, human, and surprisingly current:
leadership under pressure, impossible decisions, battlefield speeches, loyalty, fear, courage, and the very real cost of asking people to follow you into chaos.

And for the FIRST TIME in MCT history, we’re putting audiences directly in the middle of the action with our first-ever production performed IN THE ROUND.

Oh, and it’s starring Robbie Allen 🥰

No audience participation.
Nobody’s getting dragged into battle.
You can relax… Promise!
