Mental Shellness Salt water creatures have a unique ability to create the most beautiful, natural artwork. I have always loved seashells and the process of collecting them.

I am now using my collection to create designs just as unique as the original inhabitants. Mental Shellness is dedicated to my seashell addiction. It is a byproduct of my shell hunting addiction. 99% of the shells that I use for my creations, I have found. Organically, I create unique shell decorative pieces as well as trinket & jewelry holders. I do custom work and take pre-orders if you have something in mind, I will do my best to create it. I specialize in oysters and a variety of clam shells. I also use other shell varieties to enhance some shell designs. Just like most things in my life, the creations start organically. The creative process along with the shell hunting is therapy for this overstimulated, adhd, super busy lady.

I love to find olive shells when I am out and about...sadly, my normal shell trails do not always yield many olive shells. I do get more south sometimes, and I am lucky to find crystal coast olive shells. I pick up broken ones and make use of them by creating these lil cuties. I sold out of them at the Watermelon Festival so I am bringing them back.

$5 per magnet - they will be at the Java Way Coffee Co this Saturday for the Fall Vendor Fest.

I have had a really fun and peaceful time over the last few (late) nights working on some of these shells for the Java Way Coffee Co Fall Vendor Fest on Saturday. The views are from my work bench...more to come later this week.

Be sure to stop by and see all the vendors on Saturday from 8am-12pm...then head over to Chowan University for the Market in the Park event. There's a lot going on this weekend all over town!

A couple of new things I have been "shelling" around with...I will have a smaller, self-serve kiosk type set up at Java Way Coffee Co on October 17th for their annual fall vendor festival. Be sure to stop by for some fall season fun, 8am-12pm! My work bench is currently full of projects that I can't wait to unveil this weekend!

The deck rail slash drying rack...the back deck is reserved for the dirtiest of the pretties...some of them have been on the deck for 2 months soaking and still could use a couple more dunks in the bleach. Whelks, olives, moon snails are my top 3 fave shells to find. I love chocolate fudge striped knobbed whelks (scientific names only here 🤣)...

Just a few items out at the Hometown Handmade Tent at the 2026 NC Watermelon Festival! There's still two days left to catch great live music, shop from more than 50 vendors, eat some great food, and get a ride on the ferris wheel. The annual 5k is back, set to start at 7:30am on Saturday, parade at 10am, and fireworks at 9pm. Oh...and if you want to be entertained, come out to see Liquid Pleasure on Friday night! They put on a great show!
