The mission of the Center for the Arts is to enhance the quality of life in our community by providing cultural and economic enrichment through the arts. The Center for the Arts opened to the public on December 1, 1995 and was originally funded by the City of Murfreesboro and Rutherford County. In 2008 The Center became a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization and now depends on the generosity of the p

ublic for funding. Since it’s opening, the Center for the Arts has been presenting theatrical productions, visual art exhibitions, music concerts, dance performances and educational classes.

Let Your Imagination Take the Stage! -- This summer, young performers will explore the magic of musical theatre with Pure Imagination, a joyful r***e featuring songs from some of the most beloved Broadway Junior shows. From Seussical and Shrek The Musical to Disney favorites like Beauty and the Beast and Frozen, this show is packed with fun, heart, and unforgettable music.

What makes this camp extra special? Students will help create the story themselves! Using creative drama techniques, campers will work together to invent the plot, characters, and transitions that connect the songs, turning this r***e into a completely original theatrical adventure. Every group’s version of Pure Imagination is one of a kind!

Summer Musical Theatre Camp (For students entering 3rd–12th Grade)
July 20–31 | Monday–Friday | 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Performances:

August 1 at 2:00 PM

Over two exciting weeks, campers will sing, dance, act, and collaborate to build a vibrant musical r***e while developing storytelling and performance skills. With Broadway favorites, big creativity, and a story created by the cast, anything is possible when imagination takes the spotlight.

It’s showtime! -- The "ghost-with-the-most" is crashing summer camp in Beetlejuice JR., the frightfully funny musical based on the beloved film and Broadway hit. Lydia Deetz is a strange and unusual teenager grieving the loss of her mother and fascinated with the whole “being dead thing.” When she discovers her new house is haunted by a recently deceased couple and a mischievous demon named Beetlejuice, things spiral into a hilariously chaotic (Nether)world of tricks, scares, and supernatural mayhem. Next to Normal auditions are full. If you would like to audition but do not have an audition slot, we are keeping a standby list in the event of cancellations/no shows/extra time in the schedule.

Please fill out an audition form online, then review the audition information and instructions. -- When you arrive at the theater, please ask to join the standby list. If we have any cancellations, we will add people into the group in the order in which they arrive.

Along with fitting people into the "no shows" or cancellation slots, we will also accept additional auditions towards the end of the night (if schedule time allows). Be prepared to stay for up to 3 hours.

In the event that you arrive and aren't seen on Sunday, you may come again Monday! We will hold your place in line from one evening to the next (as long as you arrive on time the following evening).

Step into the magic of Disney with Disney’s Dare to Dream JR., a high-energy musical r***e celebrating the power of dreams! Inspired by a century of beloved Disney stories, this exciting show features songs from favorites like The Princess and the Frog, Coco, Encanto, Frozen II, and more. Young performers will step into the shoes of aspiring Imagineers on their first day at a magical studio, discovering how creativity, courage, and big dreams can bring incredible stories to life.
