The Tennessee Association of Dance was chartered in 1971 to encourage and support the development of dance in Tennessee. TAD serves as a central source of information for Tennessee's dance constituencies. We report dance activities, employment opportunities, auditions, master classes and workshops, as well as issues of local and national importance to the field. The Association represents dance--a

s art, as education, and as a profession--to individuals and organizations as appropriate; and informs members of governmental issues that may impact dance in Tennessee. Members of the Association actively participate in statewide arts organizations, local and national dance related organizations, often holding leadership positions. The Tennessee Association is a non-profit corporation that receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Tennessee Arts commission. The Tennessee Association of Dance is an equal opportunity employer; and provides equal opportunity to all applicants for employment, recipients of services and benefits of the Association and participants in Association programs without prejudice in regard to race, color, or national origin.

The Tennessee Association of Dance (TAD), a 501(c)3 service organization operating as the lead advocacy, education, leadership and policy arm for dance and its constituencies in the state of Tennessee, has named Lee Rennick as Executive Director.

Rennick’s background as an executive director and marketing executive, combined with her deep passion for promoting community-based arts programs, will help to further advance the mission of the organization that celebrated its 50th anniversary during the pandemic.

“We are thrilled to welcome Lee as our new Executive Director,” says Marcellus Harper Tennessee Association of Dance President. “She has an extensive background managing and marketing arts and education organizations, enthusiasm, great strategic planning skills, and a new perspective.”

As TAD Executive Director, Rennick will be responsible for strategic planning, programming, development, sustainability, marketing, and advocacy as the organization begins preparing for the future.

“I love making connections between groups, and I am particularly excited about the opportunity to collaborate with the diverse network of dance studio members, choreographers, professional dance companies, dance education programs in higher education, and community and business partners to develop an organization that is meaningful and integral to the success of the dance community in Tennessee in the coming years,” said Rennick

Previous to taking on this position, Rennick served as the Executive Director of the Business Education Partnership of Rutherford County. She was Vice President of Marketing for Barker+Christol Advertising and the first Marketing Director for The Daily News Journal. She has served on the board of many arts organizations, including being a founder of the Boro Art Crawl, serving on the Murfreesboro/ Rutherford County Arts Commission, and being a founding member of the Rutherford Arts Alliance.

STEPPING UP! Tennessee Association of Dance is in the middle of updating and changing. Over the last two years -- since our last Festival in 2022 -- we have been doing a lot of reorganizing and soul searching. COVID brought a lot of opportunities to light. In a couple of weeks, we will have the results from research we are having done by Middle Tennessee State University Business and Economic Research Center. It will help guide us forward. We are also building a comprehensive new website that will be offering a lot more information and opportunities for our members and the community about dance. All of these efforts have been supported, in whole or in part, by federal award number SLFRP5534 awarded to the State of Tennessee by the United States Department of the Treasury. Stay tuned….
