AUDITIONS: THE BOYS NEXT DOOR 🎬

Auditions for our Fall season show will take place:
August 9 & 10 from 6:30 – 9:00 PM at Mills-Pate Arts Center 💫

Showing: Nov 13 – 15 and Nov 20 – 22, 2026.

🚨 Things to know before auditioning:

The play was written in the 1980s and contains language and attitudes that are now recognized as outdated and ableist, including use of the R-word. This language is part of the original script and the period in which it was written; its inclusion in the production should not be interpreted as an endorsement of it.

Actors considering auditioning should be comfortable engaging with this material thoughtfully. The characters with intellectual disabilities must be portrayed as complete, complex human beings rather than as caricatures or collections of mannerisms.

Our goal is to approach the production with honesty, compassion, respect, and an awareness of how representations of disability have changed since the play was written.

Auditions will primarily consist of cold readings from the script. Sides for the roles of Arnold, Jack, and Lucien will also be available in advance by request for those who would like an opportunity to review the material before auditions.

We are so excited to announce that this show is officially underway and will include performances of monologues and musical numbers as well as a silent auction, raffle, and prizes throughout the night.

Showtimes include:
Friday, August 14 & Saturday, August 15 at 7:30 PM. Doors open at 7:00 PM. 🎭

At this free event, which is cohosted by Bravo Boro, we will have pants in a range of sizes and styles, with consultants to help you find your best fit. All pants will be provided. Message us to register, which is required. You must be 18 or older to register. Enjoy our spy-themed event, and catch us if you can... 🤫 muahaha! 😏

IMPORTANT INFORMATION regarding our upcoming production, “A Cabaret of Misfits and Villains!” 💃

Reminder that you may audition for ONE 𝑶𝑹 𝑩𝑶𝑻𝑯 nights at auditions taking place July 12th and 13th from 6:30–9:00 PM at Trellis&Vine.

Night 1 (Friday, August 14th) of our cabaret will be our “Misfits” (Mis-Cast) performance. Details in the first slide. Rehearsals for Misfits will be Mondays at Trellis&Vine from 6:30—9:00 PM.

Night 2 (Saturday, August 15th) will be our “Villains” show. Details in the second slide. Rehearsals for Villains will be Tuesdays at Trellis&Vine from 6:30—9:00 PM.

Tech Week will begin August 10th at Mills-Pate Arts Center. 🎭

This August, join Bravo Boro for A CABARET OF MISFITS & VILLAINS. Two evenings of performances featuring local actors and artists presenting monologues, musical numbers, comedy, and more.

August 15: MISFITS (Miscast) 🫶�A joyous evening of gender-swapped performances of theatrical pieces.

August 16: VILLAINS 😈�From iconic monologues to musical numbers, comedy, and more, our performers will bring some of theatre’s most unforgettable villains to life.

Interested in performing? Auditions will be held July 12-13. Bring a prepared piece (or pieces) and audition for one or both nights. If performing a musical number, please have a background track in your key we can connect to our speaker.🎙️🎭

This cabaret is more than just a fun night at the theatre. It’s a love letter to the community that makes this organization so special. Throughout the weekend, we’ll be raising funds through a silent auction, raffle, donation incentives, and more to help us continue to grow as a theatre company. We want to continue creating, performing, and gathering for years to come. We will share more information on this in the coming weeks. 🩷
