✨ COMING SOON! ✨

Lumina — Artistic Place, Art Gallery & Baked Goods 🎨🧁

Coming soon to Kildeer, a beautiful small town in Lake County surrounded by lovely nature and filled with a warm, welcoming soul. 🌿✨

We are so excited that Lumina will become a home for some of Ksenia’s art!

One day, when Ksenia reaches her dream of becoming a professional artist, this will be such a precious memory — that at only 11 years old, she was invited by a real art gallery to exhibit her work. 💕🎨

A young artist, a big dream, and another beautiful step on her artistic journey. ✨

Dolly, beautiful Dolly, has passed away. When I was growing up in Europe, I thought she was just a little country singer with a pink, glittery image, until I learned so much more about her here in America.
Dolly was a Southern girl, and I have always loved the South, ever since I was a little girl dreaming of one day seeing that special South I had imagined while reading Gone with the Wind.
After hearing Dolly’s song “Coat of Many Colors” for the first time, I cried like a baby. I gathered my children around me and shared the story behind the song with them. Dolly herself was the complete author of that song—she wrote it, composed it, and lived its story.
Maybe it is just a coincidence, but I have gone through many situations in my own life in almost the same way Dolly’s mother did. She was a mother of many children, just like me.
Dolly lost her brother when she was a little girl. For days, she was angry with God, asking how He could take her brother away when she had trusted Him so deeply.
A film about Dolly, based on the truth of her life, also helped me understand her not only as an artist, but as a great spirit—a fighter, a visionary, and a woman faithful to traditional values.
Dolly is a symbol of a healthy, beautiful America—the America of farmers, nature, simplicity, and beauty that so many of us dreamed about.
She did not carry that title undeservedly. She went through tremendous pain, struggle, and sacrifice, but guided by her enormous heart and creative energy, she truly managed, for more than 80 years, to color this world pink.
Not falsely. Not by pretending. But through genuine emotion and love for the whole world—not only for the music she loved so dearly.
Dolly has sponsored many libraries through which school-age children receive free books as gifts. Across the media, Americans are expressing their reaction to the news of Dolly’s death with the words: “God, thank You for Dolly.”
I join them in that feeling, because the world has lost a great and complete artist—someone of inexhaustible energy, kindness, and vision.
Travel to the Kingdom of Heaven, dear Dolly, into the arms of your beloved mother, whom you loved so deeply and honored in your songs. Travel into the arms of your husband, to whom you remained faithful for decades, from the very beginning of your journey, and who was your greatest support. It could not have been easy to stand beside a woman like Dolly, who moved the stars across the sky wherever she went.
Your songs remain with us. So do the memories of your Southern heart, your angelic voice, your kindness, and your great works—all of them gifts you left to the world.
Memory eternal, Dolly. ♡♡♡

🧶✨ We made it! Our first basic knitting course is officially finished! ✨🧶

After four wonderful weeks, we completed our first course—but we are definitely not stopping here! 💕 Our goal is to establish a small group of highly skilled girls who can use their knitting talents to create beautiful handmade art for a good cause.

I will lead this group completely free of charge. Together, we hope to donate hats, scarves, vests, gloves, ear warmers, and other handmade items to people in need, especially children. ❤️🧶

This special working group will have a different schedule, while our regular knitting class will continue at its usual time.

For now, we welcome girls ages 8–14 who would like to learn this beautiful and timeless skill. 🌸

During our first four weeks, we learned:
🧶 How to make the very first slip knot
🧶 Different types of knitting needles and their pros and cons
🧶 Different types of yarn (my personal favorite is wool with wooden needles!)
🧶 How to create rows and keep progressing with our projects
🧶 How to finish the last row and safely remove the stitches from the needles

But the most important things we learned were not really about knitting.

We learned how to find inspiration in small things.
How to turn something simple into art.
How to be creative and keep our spirits alive in a modern world surrounded by technology and screens.
How to find purpose.
And how to transform inspiration into something real with our own hands. ✨

Someone might joke, “Knitting? That sounds so boring!”

I strongly disagree. 😊

Knitting is real art. Just like every other form of art, it combines love, passion, skill, talent, patience, and inspiration. ❤️

Congratulations to my very small but wonderful knitting class! 🧶💕 And, of course, we will continue!

Please share and spread the word. Girls ages 8–14 are welcome to join us!

We have some BIG plans… but for now, we are happy to take them one little stitch at a time. 😉🧶✨

A Day We Will Never Forget

Gurnee Art Festival

We truly don’t have enough words to describe how amazing our day at the Gurnee Art Festival was! ❤️🎨

Ksenia was chosen as one of only 20 artists to showcase her art at the festival. It was such a special experience to be surrounded by a small group of truly sophisticated and talented artists.

The beautiful setting around Gurnee Community Church, the convenient parking, and the excellent organization made everything so easy for the artists. Setting up the tent, bringing the artwork, tables, chairs, and everything else is usually the hardest part, but this time the organization was absolutely wonderful.

Of all the people walking around the tents, it felt like 98% of them stopped to say hello to Ksenia, encourage her, and wish her the best. One lady was so touched by Ksenia’s artwork that she hugged her. ❤️ I will share that beautiful picture later.

The organizers and members of the City of Gurnee also stopped by to see Ksenia’s work and share their impressions.

But some of the most special memories will be the conversations with other artists. Several artists carefully looked at Ksenia’s work and encouraged her with such beautiful words:

“One day, you will be a great artist. Keep going.”

One very dear lady , the artist, Renee, bought Ksenia’s picture “Fr. Philotei’s Garden.” We shared the story behind the artwork—how it was inspired by Fr. Philotei’s garden and his love and care for us.

She explained that although Ksenia’s work is created with markers and, to the untrained eye, might look like typical children’s artwork, Ksenia has something very rare—even something difficult for many older artists to achieve: perspective, depth, space, and delicate lines. She even compared some of Ksenia’s work to Van Gogh.

She pointed to Ksenia’s lines and said again:

“You will be a great artist one day.”

She also told me that my role as Ksenia’s mother is simply to help her understand that art is part of her life and to encourage her to follow the talent that God gave her. Those words touched my heart deeply. ❤️

Even some parents of my music students came to visit us and show their support. We felt surrounded by wonderful people and amazing artists.

By the end of the day, it was honestly hard to say goodbye—not because of sales, but because there was so much to talk about, share, discuss, and learn from one another.

Dandelion Gallery in Waukegan even invited Ksenia to have a regular exhibition there whenever she feels ready. 🎨

My dear friend Janelle Rominski , who works with public communications and business networks for the City of Gurnee, also gifted Ksenia with a short photo session. What a beautiful surprise! ❤️

Thank you, Gurnee Art Commission, for creating such a beautiful day and giving Ksenia this wonderful opportunity!

And this is only the beginning. ✨

Ksenia will also perform and showcase her artwork at the Russian Ann Arbor Festival in Michigan. She is planning to create a collection of St. Seraphim graphic artworks, cards, and other pieces. If she receives the blessing to do so, all donations will be sent directly through Zelle to support the new church very close to our home , Mission of St. Faith, Love, Hope, and Their Mother Sophia.

A day filled with art, kindness, encouragement, faith, and beautiful people.
We are so grateful. ❤️🎨✨
