The David Owsley Museum of Art, which houses over 11,000 works of art (1,000+ on display), is locate Visitor hours are:
Tuesday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Muncie's Gateway to the World of Art

Our newest galleries exhibit more than 500 works of art from China, Japan, India, Africa, and the Pacific Islands, as well as from Native American, Mesoamerican, and South American cultures. Together with the existing galleries of European and American art, they represent major world civilizations on six continents. Admission to the David Owsley Museum of Art

is free and open to the public year-round. Saturday, 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. DOMA is located in the heart of Ball State University's Old Quad. Housed in the Fine Arts Building, the collection has grown since 1935, and in 2011 was renamed after the grandson of Frank C. Ball and the museum's largest benefactor, David T. Owsley. Big news: one of DOMA’s most beloved paintings, the monumental “Right Bird Left" by American artist Lee Krasner (1908–1984), recently took flight from Muncie for New York City! DOMA is lending the giant canvas to the Metropolitan Museum of Art for the blockbuster exhibition "Krasner and Po***ck: Past Continuous,” on view from October 4 through January 31, 2027. A favorite among our museum’s visitors, we are thrilled to share "Right Bird Left” with hundreds of thousands of visitors to The Met from around the world. 🩷🖼🍃

Happy Labor Day Weekend! As a reminder, the museum is closed on Saturday, September 5, for the holiday weekend, and will reopen with regular public hours on Tuesday, September 8.

Meet Will, one of our guards here at DOMA! Will's favorite thing about working at DOMA is being constantly surrounded by art. Their favorite gallery is East Asia, and some of their favorite pieces are the Japanese Noh masks. What's your favorite piece in the galleries?
