Cornerstone exists to bring people together through arts, education, celebration and community. We take seriously our responsibility to provide a safe and welcoming place for everyone who comes through our doors and will continue to hold ourselves, and those who use our facility, to that standard.
With that said, Cornerstone Center for the Arts is aware of the serious incident that occurred in our parking lot Saturday night, and our thoughts are with the individual who was injured and those impacted by what occurred.
Cornerstone was rented that evening for a privately organized event. Security was required and present for the event, both by the event organizer and by Cornerstone. Cornerstone has rented space for similar events over the past several months without incident. The event had concluded and guests had exited the building when the incident occurred outside in the parking lot. Our team and onsite security responded immediately, and law enforcement and first responders were quickly on the scene.
The incident is unacceptable and is not representative of the environment we expect at Cornerstone. The conduct violated the terms required of those who rent our facility, and the organization involved will no longer be permitted to hold events at Cornerstone. We are grateful for the quick response of our team, onsite security, law enforcement and first responders.
We are continuing to work with law enforcement in an investigating the incident.
