As a part of Global Water Dances 2025, the Down to the River Festival will honor the Guyandotte River while tackling the systemic water and environmental crises in Southern West Virginia.
Join us for a day of dances, community action, and the celebration of water— our planet’s most precious resource. This is a free event made possible by Global Water Dances.

“The Lower Slower Line” is a documentary telling the story of John Watson’s 1751 expedition through the Delmarva wilderness to survey the true border between Maryland and Delaware as depicted in his personal memoir.
Directed by B.L. Strang-Moya.
***This screening of the film is an abridged cut highlighting the beginning chapters. The feature length documentary will be released in late 2024.

June 7th & 8th, we’ll be hosting the 2nd annual Dance on the Shore festival at ! ☀️🌊💃🏻

🌊 Friday 5-7pm: SIE performs “Intertidal” against the background of the Thaler gallery exhibit, “Where the Sand Meets the Sea: Contemporary Beachscapes” by Michelle Marshall.

🌊 Saturday 11am-1pm: Kids Craft incorporating movement and creativity

🌊 Saturday 1:15-2:15: Mat to Movement workshop. A water-themed dance workshop incorporating yoga and light movement for adults (outside, if weather permits). Bring your own mat!

🌊 Saturday 2:30-3pm: Community Improv Dance Party!

It takes a village to make a film! Thanks to for letting us film Gateway to the Mountains, Act IV of Roots: Maryland’s Nature to Nurture on their beautiful property. 🍎 💃🏻

Location scouting is no joke when it comes to filmmaking! A lot goes into making sure there is space to dance, if the mood is right, our values align with the business, getting permission, and more. The owner of the orchard returned our call 2 days before filming, and it turned out to be perfect for ‘a choreographic vision. Talk about luck!!!! 🍀
