We are having an open art studio tomorrow at 6pm!
Do want to know two things that can stop anxiety in its tracks?
YES! ME TOO!
-Creativity
and
-Community
Accessing a creative flow state has been PROVEN to pull people out of flight or flight and bring them into a state of calm absorption. Coloring for adults. Do it! I am currently obsessed with Nurograpgica and all manner of Zentangles. But it doesn't matter if your jam is watercolors, woodworking, or knitting, the result is the same!
I know when we are depressed and stressed, putting on your happy face and being social can sound like an impossible feat. But, here's the trick, skip the happy-face and just go talk to a fellow human. A human with whom you can swap war stories with and give you a hug. Wallowing in our sadness, shame, and general bad attitude lets us imagine that we are the only one battling monsters. I can promise you, everyone is fighting their own fight. A little solidarity with a fellow warrior is a powerful balm for the soul.
If this sounds like a good plan, let me invite you to our next One Thousand and One Ways to be Well! We are having an OPEN ART create and sip-tea night at the Mullen Arts Center the first Wednesday of June! Feel free to bring a snack and your current art project. If you need, art supplies will be provided!
