On April 22nd, the MHS Yellowjacket Band traveled to Marvin Primary to give a concert to the 1st-4th grade students. They played wonderfully and spent some time on the playground with the students afterwards. Proud of these students for getting the younger generation excited about music!

Congratulations to these band and choir seniors who graduated last night! Many have been with me since I started at MPV back in 2019, and I have thoroughly enjoyed watching them grow into fine musicians and even greater people. Our music program is losing some reliable students, but the world is gaining a new set of leaders. Thank you for your years of hard work and dedication; you will be dearly missed!

On April 11th, members of our Mulberry High School Band competed at the ASBOA Region 8 Solo & Ensemble event. They prepared solos and duets on their own and presented them in front of a judge for a rating. Each student challenged themselves with the level of music they performed, most of whom worked on it by themselves. They deserve a round of applause for the successes and their growth!

Senior Esmeralda Moran went above and beyond and met the requirements to compete at State Solo & Ensemble. She was the first student from MHS to qualify for this event. On May 4th, we traveled to Russellville where she performed her solo and received an Excellent Rating. What a way to close out a successful high school music career. Catch her performing with the Razorback Marching Band this fall!

On Saturday, members of our PV Junior High Band and Mulberry High School Band traveled to Magic Springs in order to compete at the Magic Springs Music Festival. After shocking the judges by performing without a director, the band received a 1 for the third year in a row. Afterwards, members of the PV Middle School Band joined them for a fun afternoon in the Magic Springs amusement park.

What a great way to end another successful year of music-making! Thank you to Ms. Emilee Hatwig for taking the students in my stead, to Coach Hayes for driving the students, and to Ms. Ashley Love and Mr. Seth Green for being great chaperones! Special thanks to Senior Esmeralda Moran for warming-up, turning, and counting the band off!

Huge congratulations to Esmeralda Moran for representing MPV so well at her last ASBA All-Star Band weekend! She has represented our district at multiple auditioned honor bands over the last three years, proving that success can happen even at the smallest schools. Please congratulate Esmeralda on her years of hardwork, dedication, and growth!

Last week, Esmeralda Moran participated in the Region VIII All Region Clinic. Give her a congratulations for representing our district and band program so well!

Yesterday, Junior Saxophonist Jacob Hunter, Senior Clarinetist Esmeralda Moran, and Senior Tubist Jacob O'Bar journeyed to North Little Rock to audition for the Arkansas Small Band Association's All-Star Band. All three students auditioned well, and Esmeralda Moran placed 12th chair Clarinet. In two weeks, she will get to represent our district in the All-Star Band for the third year in a row. Congratulations to all auditionees for their hard work and to Esmeralda on her placement!

Please join me in congratulating Senior clarinetist Esmeralda Moran for earning 2nd band, 8th chair in the ASBOA Region VIII All Region auditions this morning!

Esmeralda, along with Senior tubist Jacob O'Bar and Junior saxophonist Jacob Hunter, took a step out of their comfort zones, tackled challenging music, and competed against students from schools far larger than Mulberry. Please congratulate all three for representing our district so well!
