Black at Home, 2026
North Carolina Yellow and Grey Mica, New York Black Mica, pearlescent shell, New York black car window glass, and Japanese rice paper on canvas board.

Hands were deep in the soul for this one, with archeological tools on hand to excavate and begin a dig at my local mineral dig site for mica. I sourced the black window glass from the streets of New York, swiftly sweeping after the shattered remains after a car break in. I had the pleasure of sourcing yellow mica and huge flakes of mica hand pulled directly from North Carolina’s soil in the formidable geological archive of the Blue Ridge Mountains. This work combines the separate but distinct elements of natural history found across state lines marking the migratory movements of the artist based in geological cartography.
