Vaganova Method Ballet Academy based in the SF Bay Area. Osipova Ballet Academy is the keeper and successor of the best traditions of Russian classical ballet.

The study of classical dance is the basic and main subject at the Academy. At the same time, the goal of the Academy is to educate students in various styles of modern dance. It makes future graduates competitive ballet dancers who are in demand at the best theaters worldwide.

OBA is profoundly honored to celebrate an extraordinary, historic, & unforgettable week at the 2026 YAGP Finals in Houston, Texas, the world’s largest & most prestigious international student ballet competition, bringing together the finest young talent from across the globe.

Our deepest gratitude to Ms. Larissa & Mr. Gennadi Saveliev, the entire YAGP Team, the esteemed jury panel, & every individual working tirelessly behind the scenes to create this unparalleled international platform that continues to inspire, nurture, & shape the future of dance.

This season marked OBA’s 5th YAGP Finals appearance with Multiple Top Awards & Placements, 50+ Finalists, 12 Ensembles, 4 Soloists, Invited Gala Performances & International recognition amongst the world’s top young artists!

We are proud to share that OBA Founder & Artistic Director Marina Osipova, Ph.D () is currently serving as a Jury Member at the 35th Anniversary Edition of the prestigious International Dance Competition Spoleto which is recognized as one of the most respected & historically significant competitions in the International Ballet World.

As part of the International Federation of Ballet Competitions, being a Juror here is a distinction that reflects the highest level of professional recognition. Ms. Marina’s presence among this esteemed panel stands as a powerful testament to her authority, expertise, & influence within the global ballet community.

Held in the culturally rich city of Spoleto, home to the renowned Festival of the Two Worlds, it stands amongst the most prestigious IBC’s, bringing together exceptional young artists from across the globe. As part of the International Federation of Ballet Competitions, Spoleto continues to uphold the highest standards of classical ballet & contemporary dance, while fostering innovation, artistry, & global connection.

Throughout this milestone edition, Ms. Marina is not only evaluating exceptional talent from across the world, but also leading masterclasses; directly shaping & inspiring the next generation of dancers on an international stage. The opportunity to connect with such a diverse group of young artists, representing countries across Europe, Asia, & the Americas, makes this experience especially meaningful.

We are also proud to share that representing OBA at this prestigious event are 3 of our students: Lena Mehta (age 11), Tova Tustin (age 14), & Ekaterina Pichkova (age 15) continuing OBA’s presence on the global stage & embodying the values of Premier Authentic Vaganova Training.

Gala’s in NYC: A Monumental Week Celebrating the Power of Dance 🤍

OBA had the incredible honor to be a part in the YAGP NYC Galas at the iconic David H. Koch Theater performing in the “Stars of Today Meet the Stars of Tomorrow” & the “International Dance School Festival”.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Ms. Larissa & Mr. Gennadi Saveliev for creating the worldwide dance family that is Youth America Grand Prix. This platform is truly unparalleled, bringing together performance, mentorship, opportunity, & community on a global scale. It is their vision & commitment that continues to open doors for the next generation of artists.

The YAGP NYC Galas featured the World Premiere of “Pièce d’Occasion”, a beautifully crafted work reserved for a select group of YAGP Top Winners & Finalists.

It was a very special moment for OBA seeing Pre-Professional Division student & YAGP SF Grand Prix, YGP Paris 1st Place Award Winner Ekaterina Pichkova (age 15, .katya) featured in the Pièce d’Occasion, where she was entrusted with soloist roles. To be selected among an international group of dancers is both an extraordinary honor & a testament to the artistry, dedication, & the level of Katya’s training under the direct guidance of Founder & Artistic Director, Marina Osipova, Ph.D.

We were also very proud to see Level 4B Student & YAGP 2nd Place Award Winner: Lena Mehta (age 11, .danseuse) as part of the piece, contributing to the unity, scale & vibrancy of this remarkable production! Thank you YAGP for creating opportunities for even the youngest dancers to be part of such a world-class event.

A special thank you to the team behind Pièce d’Occasion: Ms. Larissa Saveliev, Ms. Natalia Bashkatova, Ms. Rachael Nye, & Mr. Gennadi Saveliev, for their daily dedication in coaching, choreographing, & staging this piece, bringing together 100+ award-winning dancers (ages 9-18+) from across the 2026 YAGP Semi-Final circuit.

This past week was a beautiful reminder of the power of dance to bring people together through learning, collaboration, & community! Thank you YAGP for this honor of an opportunity!

the 3rd Annual Edition of Marina Osipova’s «Thumbelina – A Fantasy Tale» 🌷✨

After two incredibly successful performances of Thumbelina last weekend, it’s time to proudly celebrate the 3rd Anniversary of «Thumbelina - A Fantasy Tale», OBA’s original full-length ballet!

For the first time ever, Thumbelina was brought to life on the stage of the MVCPA, marking a new chapter of growth, excellence, & artistic achievement for OBA.

From countless hours of rehearsals to meticulous planning & a shared passion for excellence, every detail was brought to life with love & passion. This original full-length ballet has evolved into a signature work of OBA: expanding in scale, depth, & vision with each passing year. In 2026, we were proud to unite nearly 300+ dancers & 150+ volunteers: a remarkable reflection of the strength, reach, & spirit of our community.

We would like to sincerely congratulate our Founder & Artistic Director - Marina Osipova, Ph.D on yet another outstanding achievement of bringing back Thumbelina with even more success! You are the heart & soul of OBA, the moving force, without whom none of the magic would ever be possible!

We extend our deepest gratitude to the remarkable team behind this production!
