The Food Bank of North Central Arkansas and Boone County Health Unit will be hosting a FREE drive through food distribution and vaccine clinic at NorthArk from 11 am until 1 pm Thursday August 5th. You can receive food and vaccination, just food or just vaccine.

Food Bank of North Central Arkansas Announces
Cancellation of Bridge Bash 2020

Norfork, AR (August 13, 2020) – The Food Bank of North Central Arkansas announced Thursday the cancellation of Bridge Bash 2020, the organizations signature fundraising and awareness event that was previously set for Saturday September 26th. This year’s event would have been the 10th anniversary of Bridge Bash which is normally held during Hunger Action Month.

The Food Bank cited concerns related to COVID-19, and the significant increase in demand for the organization’s services as the primary reason for the cancellation. Food Bank CEO, Jeff Quick stated, “The sheer cost of putting on an event the size of Bridge Bash, and not knowing whether we would be able to host the event due to COVID-19 was a big concern for us. In addition, with a 92% increase in direct services and a 34% increase in food distribution year to date, we recognized the importance of our organization focusing on our core program of distributing food to those in need.”

The Food Bank has distributed over 2.4 million pounds (an estimated 2 million meals) during 2020, and the organization’s average distribution has increased over 100,000 pounds per month.

The Food Bank will be providing a mass distribution of fresh produce and frozen chicken tomorrow (Wednesday July 28) from 10 am until 1 pm in TWO LOCATIONS - Riverside Church of Christ in Gassville and the Church of Christ in Salem. 10 pound bags of chicken, 5 pound bags of potatoes and 3 pound bags of oranges will be available while supplies last.
