I hope you like watching this watercolor painting develop. Each piece I do is a journey from the sketch throughout the entire process.. mistakes are still made even at my level of experience and challenges must be overcome. This piece is called “Après la Fête”, which means after the party.

I was thinking about when Derby is all done and you finally get home, loosen the tie. pour yourself some bourbon, and if you’re a lady, you put your feet up on your man’s lap because they’re killing you from the heels. You just have this quiet, soft moment together. The mood of this painting is intentionally more dark and seductive than the paintings I’ve done lately in my Hats series.

I was honored to show this painting with Bourbon with Heart at Churchill Downs last Saturday during Downs After Dark. The theme for the art was bourbon, bets, and bowties. Let me know what you think. I would love to hear some feedback from my followers.
