Congratulations to Alex Boyer for another big role. He will be singing his first Bacchus in our Ariadne auf Naxos in April/May.

Cast change: Tenor Alex Boyer will portray Herod — Salome’s father — in Richard Strauss’s “Salome,” onstage January 25-February 14. Boyer replaces Brandon Jovanovich, who has withdrawn from the production for personal reasons.

Boyer is known for his commanding voice and dramatic portrayals of the lyric and spinto tenor repertoire. In 2025, he made his Metropolitan Opera debut as Captain Ahab in “Moby Dick.” He has also appeared in the Metropolitan Opera's new production of “Salome,” in Chicago Opera Theater’s 2019 production of “Moby Dick,” among other leading roles at Opera San Jose, Santa Fe Opera, Hawaii Opera Theater, and more.
