Not sure if you've seen this yet or not, but the utility box across the street from the Gallery on Gambier, corner of Gay and Gambier, has been wrapped with art from local artists. Lorry is pointing to our entry, "The Fox and the Grapes", based on the Aesop's fable. Thank you to Emily Morrison for your tireless devotion to making downtown Mount Vernon beautiful and you support for local artist. You may also notice a work from Matthew Bustillo . He will be featured at the Gallery on Gambier in September / October. Opening reception is during First Friday, September 4th, from 6 - 9pm. Hope you can make it out to see Matthew's art along with Teri Cleveland and Alissagrace Raynak.

4 first time students completed their stained glass projects last night. They all did wonderfully with beautiful results. I'm often taken by the range of emotions my students go through while creating their panel, from excitement to doubt. But somehow, they always finish and are extremely satisfied and pleased.

The September - 4 week, Beginner/Intermediate class is already full. October and November workshops are wide open. Sign up now if you want to give it a try. Also, you may want to consider some of the new short term, project based workshops.

Here's a preview of one of Matthew Bustillo's pen and ink drawings, a depiction of the Wizard of Oz. He packs so much detail and action in his compositions that it's easy to get lost in his world. Be sure to come Friday, September 4 from 6–9 pm to meet Matthew and to see his work. I'm sure you'll be entertained and amazed. This special exhibit of Emerging Artists of Central Ohio will be up through the end of October. Also featured will be Teri Cleveland of Sunbury, OH, and Allisagrace Raynak of Mount Vernon, OH.

A bunch of fall workshops have been scheduled and added for September through December. All of these workshops are beginner friendly and many are only 1 to 3 days in length and less expensive than our typical 4 week Beginner Stained Glass class. We are excited to announce that our glass kiln is installed and we are ready to get it fired up! We have scheduled a variety of fused glass classes that involve different kiln techniques. For framing Friday, I'd like to share with you this stunning and sensitive original pet portrait. This job had a couple challenges as the art was done on a heavy board which had a significant warp. Some of the warping was reduced by relaxing the piece, elevating the ends and placing a weight on the center. Hinging was not possible due to the thickness, so the art was positioned in a sink mount - surrounding the board with acid free walls glued to an acid free backer board. Needless to say, our client was touched upon seeing the completed handsomely framed portrait. Now they can proudly display this art in their house - the way it was mean to be enjoyed!

During Mount Vernon's last First Friday Event (September 4th), we invite you to celebrate and support a few Emerging Artists of Central Ohio featuring works from Matthew Bustillo, Teri Cleveland, and Allisagrace Raynak.

Music will be provided by several members of our beloved local group, Ohio Celtic Fiddlers of Knox County.
