The newest episode of the Wind Up is out now!

In this episode of The Wind Up, host Edu Gutterres sits down with Grammy Award-winning guitarist Jason Vieaux.

They talk about Jason’s brand-new album, Gratitude, released on September 18, featuring his own original compositions, and about some of the big milestones that marked his career, from winning the GFA competition to winning a Grammy, and what life looks like after those.

The conversation gets into the very real challenge of balancing a career as a touring musician with being a dad, finding time for family, and even dreaming about taking a vacation. Jason also shares some of the more unexpected adventures that come with being a guitarist, including recording in the middle of the night.

There’s plenty for everyone in this interview: why chamber music is so much fun, being the first classical musician to play a Tiny Desk Concert, and Jason’s famous “ping pong ball thumb.”

“Prelude” by Julian Bennett Holmes

Tom Clippinger’s debut solo album delivers a diverse survey of contemporary American guitar music, bridging classical and electric soundscapes through a collection of world premiere recordings almost entirely personally dedicated and commissioned.

Recorded in Norfolk’s historic First Lutheran Church and shaped by GRAMMY-winning engineer Andreas Meyer, this project stands as a monument to living American composers whose distinct voices continue to redefine the modern capabilities of the guitar. Supported by Tidewater Classical Guitar and Augustine Strings, the release is paired with a complete co-branded visual album capturing the physical artistry and dimensionality of these works.
