Dear Escape Zone Parents/Guardians,
I am writing to share a new policy at The Escape Zone. Beginning August 19, 2026, children will be asked to turn in their cell phones when they check in. Phones will be stored securely in a locked cell phone cabinet at the front desk and returned when children leave the building. If a child needs to make a phone call or send a text during the evening, they may use their phone at the registration desk. If you need to contact your child while they are with us, please call the registration desk at (740) 392-9436 or The Escape Zone cell phone at (330) 275-2956.
The Escape Zone Board approved this policy for two main reasons. First, we want every child to have a fun and rewarding experience. Limiting cell phone use will encourage more interaction between children and volunteers, improve the overall environment, and help reduce online bullying. Second, children often set their phones down while playing, especially in the gym, which can put these expensive devices at risk of damage or theft. Any youth who chooses not to follow this policy will be sent home, and a parent or guardian will be contacted. This policy is also consistent with the cell phone policy of our local school district.
We encourage children to leave their phones at home whenever possible. If a phone is brought to The Escape Zone, it will be placed in a numbered slot in the cell phone cabinet. The slot number will be recorded in our registration system so the phone can be returned to the correct child at checkout.
