Just did a test of Toy Story 5 and I am so inspired by the message of this movie that we added 2 additonal shows on Saturday and Sunday. I'm confident that all ages will find this movie entertaining AND enlightening. It's fun. Relevant. Lighthearted yet with a solid message. Timely for parents, grandparents, and kids of all ages. Truly, bring the middle and high schoolers too! They'll all love it.

Here's what you need to know:

🥔Bring your own cup and bowl/bucket for 10% off your first fill up. Refills during the show are 50% off!
👨🏻‍🚀Weekday matinees before 4pm are just $6.
🐷We recommend getting tickets in advance if you have a tight schedule and can only attend certain days or times. You can go to the link in our About section to get tickets online. Sometimes Bitly breaks the link to our ticketing site, so send us a DM if you have trouble.
🤠We do not have a card reader in the theater. Bring cash or pay via Venmo.

Adults, this weekend is for YOU! We're throwing you a little "customer appreciation" as a thank you for being so patient in waiting for a Rated R or adult-centered movie weekend. The Sundance Film Festival Shorts Tour will be playing on Thursday-Sunday! Come to The Bijou to see 6 short films, totaling about 100 minutes, that are funny, insightful, thought-provoking, inspiring, challenging, and mayyyyyyybe a little anxiety-inducing

To show our appreciation, each day of the Shorts Tour we'll provide patrons with a complimentary treat from a local bakery or bakery.

Thursday - a cupcake from Angie at Frosted: Homemade Cupcakes
Friday - a white chocolate strawberry cookie from Jen at White Tree Bakery
Saturday - a decorated vanilla sugar cookie from Lori at LoraBelle's Creative Cookies
Sunday - a sourdough brown butter chocolate chip cookie from Megan at Northside Market Stand

If possible, please book your ticket in advance to guarantee your sweet treat and so we can place an appropriately-sized order with these bakers. You can also send us a message on social media or call the theater to reserve your tickets! We will order a few extra for walk-in patrons.

As part of our Visit Mount Vernon-Lisbon () Hello Summer special, tomorrow you can get a large popcorn or soda for the price of a medium!

THE BREADWINNER (rated PG) is playing at 4pm & 6:15pm, and our free outdoor movie on the lawn is at 8:30pm (seating begins at 8pm). The movie title is a surprise, but we've posted a couple of hints in 2026 FREE SUMMER OUTDOOR MOVIES! What better way to kick off summer than a day of wandering Uptown with friends, then capping it off with a movie at The Bijou?!

👋 Say hi to the fellas, Cooper and Nathaniel! 🥳

These two round out our crew of incredible young people who keep the lights on at The Bijou. Cooper (left) was the first employee we hired, and are we ever glad he approached us about a job! Cooper is a dedicated student athlete. He is so responsible and hard-working, but also knows how to have fun and keep things light. Even when our 6 year old wants to throw down and wrestle in the lobby 🙃 Gosh, he's a gem.

Nathaniel (right) just joined our team and is finishing his training over the next two weeks. Also an incredible student athlete, Nathaniel has an outgoing personality that our patrons adore. He's also shown us that he knows the importance of great customer service. He's going to have a phenomenal summer with us!

Greet these two with big smiles the next time you see them at the concession stand! Maybe this weekend for THE BREADWINNER, before it's gone on Sunday?

The Sundance Film Festival Shorts Tour will be at The Bijou next weekend. Featuring 6 short films for a total runtime of 99 minutes, this is an event you'll want to gather the crew for. We are going to sweeten the experience, literally, and provide every patron with a FREE lil' treat from a local baker! Think of this as an informal "customer appreciation" weekend for all the adults out there who patiently wait for a break in the family-friendly films at their hometown theater. (While the Shorts are not rated, we recommend patrons be 17 or older.)

If you buy a ticket in advance on any of the following dates, you'll get a complimentary treat on us from the following:

🧁Thursday, June 11: a cupcake from Angie at Frosted: Homemade Cupcakes
🍓Friday, June 12: a white chocolate strawberry cookie from Jen at White Tree Bakery

⛳🔅Summertime just feels good, amiright?🍧🎣

We've adjusted our showtimes to reflect traffic patterns at the theater, families spending more time together during the week or kids hanging with the babysitter, and the availability of our staff. That mostly means more $6 matinees and being open nearly 7 days a week! YAY!

This week see THE BREADWINNER (rated PG) through Sunday. It's a family-friendly comedy; kids aged about 8 years or older would enjoy it most. Bring in those popcorn bowls and cups for 10% off AND ride your bike for a free kids size soda or scoop of popcorn. And yeah, you can stack those discounts, babe!

Before we let ya go, June is historically a slow month for weekend theater rentals. Usually we book up months in advance for weekends and have multiple rentals on Saturdays and Sunday. If you'd like to rent the theater in June, we have LOTS of weekend availability. Weekday availability this summer is super limited due to daycare and summer program field trips, but if that is more your jam reach out soon to snag an open date.

It's Sophie, y'all!

We used to think it was rare to find a dependable, punctual, kindhearted, funny high schooler that we could hand over our business to for an evening, but then we met Sophie 🤩 She's such a valuable member of the team here at The Bijou and I am so glad she agreed to work here after I approached HER about a year ago. (I have an eye for the good ones!)

You'll see her a ton this summer, along with Joey, Cooper, and Nathaniel. Thanks for helping us mentor these young people and prepare them for their next adventure when they graduate in 2027. I'm holding onto them with a white-knuckle grip for the next 12 months!
