Our Story
The Mt. Rainier Craft Fair has become an annual event in the city of Mount Rainier, Maryland, where local crafters know not to put anything on their calendars for the first Saturday in December when residents of Mount Rainier and neighboring communities come out to support a wide variety of vendors and their talents.
The Mt. Rainier Craft Fair was born in the living room of Ms. Mimi Mckindley-Ward when six talented crafters wanted to display their crafts. As the fair grew over the years, crafters set up in other homes before eventually growing large enough to occupy church halls and other community buildings in Mount Rainier. In 2007, the Mt. Rainier Craft Fair made the move to its current location, Joe’s Movement Emporium. Over the last two decades, the Mt. Rainier Craft Fair has grown from six vendors to more than three dozen, including several community nonprofits. Where the fair once took up just one room at Joe’s Emporium, this year it will take up the entire theater and lobby.
New in 2018 - the Craft Fair is no longer volunteer run and being organized and executed by Joe’s staff. Joe’s is dedicated to keeping the community vibe alive! Please email [email protected] with any questions.
