Because while they’re learning how to create a character, they’re also learning how to communicate, collaborate, think on their feet, listen, take creative risks, handle mistakes, and trust themselves.

Theatre girlies know there’s a pretty good chance that, at some point, you’re going to be cast as a guy.

And honestly? We consider it a rite of passage. So much so that we’ve affectionately dubbed these legendary ladies Lady Kings.

Being an MTC Lady King is an honor, and with Newsies callbacks happening TONIGHT, we’re about to crown several more and welcome them into the MTC Lady King Hall of Fame.

Our Frozen Kids Workshop is the perfect opportunity for young performers ages 8–12 who are ready to experience the magic of putting on a show!
Over the course of the workshop, students will learn, rehearse, and build their confidence as performers. Then bring it all together for a FINAL PRODUCTION on December 12th in MTC’s very own Provost Theatre!
And yes, this one comes with the full theatre experience: costumes, props & set pieces included!

Our Frozen Kids Workshop is the perfect opportunity for young performers ages 8–10 who are ready to experience the magic of putting on a show!

You know that feeling when you’re watching a show and suddenly get emotional because you’re watching someone do something they’ve worked so hard for?
That moment when everything onstage and behind the scenes comes together and you can feel the magic?
When someone hits an incredible high note and their voice radiates throughout the entire audience?
When the entire ensemble is perfectly in sync with incredible choreography they’ve spent weeks mastering.
When the audience goes completely silent because a scene hits a little too close to home.
Or when you share a laugh with the stranger sitting next to you because an actor just delivered a line with impeccable comedic timing.
That feeling has a name: collective effervescence
Collective effervescence is the electric sense of energy, connection, and unity we feel when we gather together around a shared experience. It’s the joy that spreads when everyone in a room is witnessing something beautiful together. It’s that feeling of being part of something bigger than yourself.
And we’re pretty sure theatre might be one of the best places to find it.
Because theatre isn’t just about what happens onstage. It’s about the collective experience of being in a room with other people. Laughing together, crying together, holding your breath together, and cheering together.
And that shared experience can do more than give you a great night out. Research on collective effervescence has linked it to greater emotional well-being, less loneliness, increased life satisfaction, a deeper sense of belonging, and even more willingness to connect with and help others.
So, basically…
Go see a show. It’s good for you.
And if you happen to get a little emotional watching someone absolutely nail something they’ve worked incredibly hard to do?

What a summer it’s been with the Wildcats! We’ve loved every second of bringing this show to life. Thank you to everyone who came out, cheered us on, and made this season so special.
