“My current focus is on two art themes. Dissappearing Landscapes and Patientia (Latin for Patience). Dissappearing Landscapes is a series of paintings capturing the complex relationship of humans to the natural world. Discussing the dichotomy between “living on Mother Earth and “living with Mother Earth. Constant movement between these two philosophies mirrors the contradiction of mankind. The impasto technique is used, creating not only texture but also multiple layers of paint, mirroring the layers of the earth. Patientia is a series of paintings capturing the uniqueness of the mailbox, from rustic construction to manicured presentations. All have the same purpose: to receive. The manner of receipt can embrace angst, anticipation, joy, sadness, discussion, and politics, embracing almost every human emotion. I personally find the “patience” of the mailbox aligns with the “patience” of awaiting news. The modern world may have instant gratification for most ‘Delivered” information, but the mailbox remains a utilitarian structure, where the shape, form, and construction are unique to the owner. Function and Art meet in an interesting way. “Roots and Branches” theme fits these art submissions from a perspective of the natural world, providing substance for our existence, from food to a place to live, and mailboxes as metaphors for the emotional connection of people.”
