Pianist Susan Eissele will accompany. Bringing an .mp3 music track is also acceptable and a Bluetooth speaker is available. (For sheet music, we suggest the website, musicnotes.com, for purchasing songs in any key.)

Male Roles: Chad (18-25, bari/tenor with pop/rock mix) a charismatic, motorcycle-riding roustabout; Dennis (18-25, tenor with pop/rock mix) an awkward guy who hopes to be a dentist; Dean Hyde (16-25, tenor with pop/rock mix) the Mayor’s obedient son who has been reared in military-schools; Jim Haller (40-50, tenor) a lonely widower and the town’s mechanic; Sheriff Earl (40-60, any range) a man of few words, loyal to the Mayor. Male ensemble members (ages 15-55, all vocal ranges) as singing, dancing townsfolk.

Female Roles: Natalie Haller (18-25, mezzo with high belt) a tomboyish mechanic; Miss Sandra (20-25, mezzo) an intellectual museum curator; Sylvia (40-50, mezzo with high belt) a no-nonsense, honky-tonk owner; Lorraine (16-17, mezzo with high belt) Sylvia’s daughter; smart and incurably romantic; Mayor Matilda Hyde (40-60, alto/mezzo) uptight and strict, she imposes her will on the town. Female ensemble members (ages 15-55, all vocal ranges) as singing, dancing townsfolk.

Rehearsals: Music rehearsals begin the week of June 1. Choreography and staging rehearsals will be Mondays-Fridays, 7:00-9:30 pm, with the potential of some weekend evenings, if necessary.

The Story: A charismatic, motorcycle-riding guy, Chad, pulls into a small town and shakes up the locals. Natalie, the tomboyish mechanic, falls for Chad, while he falls for the snobby museum lady, Sandra. Local guy, Dennis, secretly pines for Natalie, while she goes into disguise as Ed hoping to be Chad’s pal, if she can’t be his gal. In just 24 hours, mistaken identities and love-at-first sight incidents multiply, as everyone in town falls for the wrong person; from Natalie’s daddy, Jim, to Sylvia, Dean, Lorraine, Matilda, and Sheriff Earl.

This fun-loving, musical fantasy rocks with classic Elvis tunes that have all of the town’s folks singing and dancing to Heartbreak Hotel, Blue Suede Shoes, Can’t Help Falling in Love, Teddy Bear, Love Me Tender, Devil in Disguise, A Little Less Conversation, Don't Be Cruel and many more.

Sonnentag Theatre at the IceHouse opens
THE COTTAGE; Jan 16 – Feb 8, 2026

[Mount Dora, FL] Kicking off the new year with laughter, the IceHouse is offering a witty comedy, The Cottage, by Sandy Rustin. The IceHouse Theatre is at 1100 N. Unser St., Mt. Dora, FL, 32757.

On a bright June morn in 1923, in a lovely English country cottage, Sylvia and Beau are basking in the afterglow of their yearly passionate rendezvous. In a moment of impetuous truth-telling, Sylvia has fired off telegrams to each of their spouses announcing the affair – causing the hasty arrival of Clarke and Marjorie. Far from being upset by their spouses’ infidelities, Clarke and Marjorie are relieved to reveal that they, too, are clandestine lovers, and are madly in love. As the plot twists, it is revealed that Clarke and Beau are brothers -- and that Beau’s wife, Marjorie, is pregnant – with Clarke’s baby. Just as these revelations are landing, on the doorstep appears Dierdre, Beau’s other current indiscretion. She has filed for divorce from the maniacally jealous, Richard. As Dierdre is divulging that her soon-to-be-ex has killed several of her previous lovers…he arrives to settle the score. With many other surprises to be disclosed…hilarity ensues.

The talented ensemble of six comedic players brings the script to energetic life. The lovely and rash romantic, Sylvia, is Christie Duffer. The very pregnant and droll Marjorie is Jackie Prutsman. The naïve and gullible ‘third woman’ is Aspen Thompson. The charming cad, Beau, is Christopher Fahmie. The insecure younger brother, Clarke, is John Gracey. The possibly murderous, yet gentle, Richard is Britton Hollingsworth.

The production is directed by Darlin Barry, with scenic design by Buddy Fales, lighting design by Diego Ford and Philip Lupo, and costume and sound design by Darlin Barry.
