The Thunderbird Foundation for the Arts is dedicated to two ideals: preserving and sharing the legacy of seminal artist Maynard Dixon for future generations and creating exciting opportunities for modern artists within the art community. In that spirit, Maynard Dixon Country Camp Out was established in 2015 and proved to be a phenomenal success - and we're expecting 2016's event to be even better!
Thirty-six invited artists will take part in this year's event, painting throughout the week, which will culminate in a gallery show and wet paint sale. Many of the invited artists will themselves be inviting guest artists, who will also be painting around the area throughout the week. This is an exciting event for the public and collectors, who will be treated to the rare experience of watching the masters create - live. Maynard Dixon Country Camp Out isn't just an art show, although it has quickly become a favorite for collectors. It's also an opportunity for artists to network, share and learn from each other and from giants in the art business and marketing communities and this year we've provided plenty of opportunities for both. Workshops by social media marketing expert Lori McNee, Ray & Peggi Roberts and Shanna Kunz lead off a week that will also include a symposium with John Burton, Lui Deak and David Ericson. Camp Out participants will also be treated to demonstrations by Ruo Li, Mian Situ and Ray Roberts, a gallery show and wet paint sale, sponsor booths and more. We're looking forward to an amazing event and hope to see you there!
