What a beautiful showcase weekend at Surry County Dance Center!!

Our stage was filled with so much heart, joy, and hard work, and we could not be more proud of every dancer who stepped into the spotlight.

A huge shoutout to our youngest dancers who took the stage for the very first time. That first performance is such a big moment, and watching them step out there with courage, excitement, and bright smiles was so special. We are incredibly proud of them for accomplishing something so huge.

To our dancers who have been growing with us year after year—thank you. Watching your dedication, confidence, and progress continue to build is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do. The hard work you put in each week truly shines, and we are so proud of each of you.

A very special congratulations to our graduating senior, Anna Dowell. Thank you for the time, heart, and dedication you have poured into Surry County Dance Center. It has been such a joy watching you grow here, and we are so excited for all that is ahead for you. We wish you the absolute best in your next chapter.

To all of our parents and guardians—thank you. Thank you for every ride to class, every costume change, every rehearsal, every encouragement, and every way you support your dancers from the beginning of the season to that final bow on stage. Your support means so much, and we are so grateful for the trust you place in us.

A very special congratulations to our 2025 Model Student, Nylah Sneed. Our Model Student Award is given to a student who exemplifies great character, a positive attitude, and dedication both inside and outside of the studio. Nylah represents all of those things so beautifully, and we are thrilled to celebrate her with a year of free tuition for any and all classes she would like to take. We are so proud of you, Nylah.

Congratulations to every dancer, family, and teacher who helped make this showcase weekend so special.

We are so grateful for this studio community and all the memories made together.

Last night’s Solo Showcase was such a fun and special way to kick off showcase weekend!

We’re so proud of every dancer who took the stage in a solo, duet, or trio. These pieces take extra rehearsal time, extra instruction, and a lot of dedication!

Watching that unfold onstage is always something special, and we loved celebrating every one of them last night 💫

Now we’re heading into our group showcases and we cannot wait!!

A big thank you to our dance parents, grandparents, chauffeurs, costume helpers, and our entire Surry County Dance Center community. Thank you for every ride to class, every encouraging word, and for trusting us with your dancers all season long.

Tech Week is almost here at Surry County Dance Center!

Our dancers are jumping, leaping, and counting down with excitement as we head into one of the most fun weekends of the season. We can’t wait to see all of their hard work light up the stage.

Families: please check the QR code link sent via email for your dancer’s exact rehearsal time on Wednesday, May 27th and Thursday, May 28th, and any important details on what they’ll need.

As we close out another amazing season at Surry County Dance Center, we’re getting ready for one of our favorite weekends of the year.

Our dancers have worked incredibly hard these past months, and it’s been so special watching their confidence, technique, and artistry grow. We’re excited to celebrate all they’ve accomplished and share the stage with our families and community.

🎓 Senior Spotlight: Anna Dowell 🎓

As we countdown to our Annual Showcase, help us celebrate OUR ONE & ONLY amazing graduating senior, Anna Dowell! 🌟

Anna has been a passionate and vibrant member of our studio, and it’s been an honor to watch her grow into such a strong and inspiring young woman.

Here's a little about Anna's next chapter:

"I plan to attend NC State University to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications. I plan to continue my love of storytelling and truth to pursue a career in Journalism and Broadcasting. Over the summer I will continue my internship in the Marketing department of Mountian Valley Hospice.

Dance has always been intertwined in my life since I could remember. There has never been a time when I've not known dance. Dance has given me the chance to incapsulate every emotion I've ever had out on the dance floor. I'm thankful to have spent all my dance years at Surry County Dance Center.

Over the years I've been able to build a home and dance family at the studio and dance has taught me so much more than just steps. It's taught me endurance, discipline and how to push through. It's also taught me compassion, patience and the importance of being kind. I'm forever grateful for the opportunities that I've been given in dance. And I'm forever thankful for all the amazing teachers like Mrs. Cindy Joyce, who first installed the love of dance in me. And I want to thank Mrs. Kelly, Mrs. Katie, Mrs. Brenda and Ms. Ella, who have continued to help me grow in my dance journey.

I'm so grateful to also have formed so many lifelong friendships and connections through dance. I'm so sad to leave my dance family but they will always hold a very special place in my heart.

And lastly I would like to thank my parents for all the hard work they have also put in along my dance journey. I would not be where I am today if not for them.

As I say goodbye to this chapter of my life, I will always hold dance close to my heart and forever cherish the memories I've made a SCDC. Here's to new beginnings!"

Tonight was one of those reminders that dance studios hold entire childhoods inside their walls.

We watched this senior, who once walked into class as a little girl, stand in front of us as a confident young adult!

These studios become part of how dancers are raised. Generations grow up here learning discipline, friendship, resilience, creativity, and who they are becoming both on and off the dance floor.

To our senior, Anna, and your family, thank you for allowing Surry County Dance Center to be part of your story.

Watching Anna grow up has been one of the greatest privileges.

Registration is officially OPEN for the 6th season at Surry County Dance Center.

Dance class becomes so much more than learning choreography. It teaches resilience, responsibility, teamwork, creativity, discipline, and confidence that carries far beyond the studio.

In a world that moves fast, we’re grateful to continue creating a space where kids can move, belong, express themselves, and grow.

Whether this is your dancer’s very first class or another year returning home to the studio, we cannot wait to welcome you into this next season!

Summer is such a great time for kids to explore dance in a fun, low-pressure environment.

Our Magical Moves Summer Dance Camp is designed for ages 18 months–8 and focuses on movement, music, imagination, and creative play in an encouraging studio setting.

June 22-25 at Surry County Dance Center

Whether your child is brand new to dance or already loves to move, summer camps are a great way to stay active, make friends, build coordination, and try something new.

L.E.A.P. Week was one of our favorite weeks of the season ❤️ (Learning Excellence Achieving Progress)

There’s something really special about slowing down for a moment and getting to celebrate how much our dancers have grown this year — not just technically, but in their confidence, work ethic, resilience, and love for dance too.

This week, dancers headed home with progress reports, milestone pins, special gifts, and lots to celebrate. Seeing students recognized for 3, 5, 10, and even 15 years in our program never gets old. 🥹

We’re so proud of the hard work these dancers have put in all season long and so thankful for the families who continue to grow with us year after year.

One more week of classes… and then it’s officially Tech Week!
