Cheer & Pom kicks off THIS SATURDAY, October 17, at Surry County Dance Center!

Football season might be winding down, but that doesn’t mean your cheerleader’s training has to!

Our NEW Cheer & Pom classes are designed to keep those skills growing between seasons! We’re talking sharper motions, stronger jumps, pom technique, sidelines & chants, basic stunting and tumbling, and all the confidence that comes with consistent training.

No games. No competitions. Just training that prepares them for whatever comes next! ❤️

And getting started is EASY!

❤️ Athletic wear or cheer wear
❤️ Clean cheer shoes
❤️ A willingness to learn and have FUN!

🎃 Pumpkin Painting Contest at SCDC! 🎨

We’re so excited for our Pumpkin Painting Contest! This is such a fun way for our dancers to get creative and celebrate the fall season together!

Here’s how to join in:

🎨 Paint/decorate your pumpkin however YOU like — spooky, sparkly, silly, or stylish!

Bring it to the studio with your name attached by October 31st!

🎃 Age Categories:

* All Preschool Classes
* All Combo Classes
* All Level Classes

✨ Pumpkins will be judged on creativity, effort, and originality (and age-appropriate skill…please don’t have your high school prospective Art Major decorate your 5 yr/olds pumpkin 👀)

🏆 Winners announced Nov. 2nd will receive:

* $25 account credit
* A spotlight feature on our social media!

Hard work deserves a little celebration! 🎉

We brought out the Prize Wheel this week at SCDC, giving our dancers a chance to reward themselves for all the effort, focus, and determination they bring to class each week!

We love seeing our dancers work hard, but we love making sure they have fun along the way, too! 💕

📣 It’s October, and we’re officially counting down to Cheer & Pom at SCDC!

Classes begin October 17, which means we’re getting SO close to giving our cheerleaders a place to keep training once football season wraps up.

There can be a pretty big gap between the last football game and the next round of cheer tryouts, and that’s a lot of time to lose the technique they’ve spent all season building. That’s really why we’re starting Cheer & Pom classes.

We’ll keep working on pom technique, motions, sidelines & chants, jumps, basic stunting and tumbling, and performance so they can keep building instead of starting over when their next season rolls around.

And remember: no games and no competition schedule. Just consistent Saturday training designed to help them walk into their next season stronger, sharper, and more prepared. ❤️📣

Sometimes the best teaching tools are the simplest ones. 🍝

In Combo 3, we used spaghetti noodles across their legs during tendus so they could actually feel when their knees started to bend.

We can say “straighten your knees” 100 times—but giving dancers a physical cue helps them make the connection in their own bodies.

And apparently, sometimes that connection is made with a piece of spaghetti. 😂

Building body awareness + ballet technique, one noodle at a time.

Football season doesn’t have to be where the cheer training stops. 📣

If your cheerleader wants to sharpen their skills for basketball season, keep what they’ve worked hard to build this fall, or start preparing now for upcoming tryouts, we’ve got a new place to train.

Cheer & Pom will work on pom technique, motions, jumps, sidelines & chants, basic stunting, tumbling and performance quality.

Training only—no competitions or games, just focused skill-building.

What an incredible first week back to dance!

There is just something about having the studios full again. Seeing our returning dancers walk back through the doors, welcoming new faces, and watching everyone settle into their classes reminded us all over again why we love what we do.

We are so thankful for every family who has chosen to spend this season with us, whether you’ve been here for years or this is your very first one.
