Each year, our staff selects one dancer to receive the Model Student Scholarship, which includes free tuition for the upcoming dance season.
This award recognizes much more than dance ability. It honors a student who consistently demonstrates outstanding character, sportsmanship, dedication, work ethic, leadership, and kindness throughout the year.
Chosen by our entire staff, the recipient serves as an example of what it means to be a positive member of our studio family and someone who uplifts those around them.

“Hi, my name is Nylah, and I have been dancing since I was three years old. I have worked very hard and always looked up to the Model Student Award winners, but I never imagined that I would receive the award myself.
When I was named the 2026 Model Student, I was completely shocked! My reaction was priceless because I never expected to hear my name called. I felt so happy and honored. One of my favorite parts was getting to take pictures with both my family and my dance family to celebrate such a special moment.
My time at Surry County Dance Center has been amazing. I have made wonderful friends, learned so much, and grown as a dancer. All of the teachers are kind, helpful, and really make every student feel special.
This achievement would not have been possible without the encouragement and guidance of my teachers, Brenda, Ella, Hayden, Katie, and especially Mrs. Kelly. They have helped me build confidence and believe in myself.
I am so grateful to all of my teachers for their support, dedication, and for helping make my dance dreams come true. Receiving the 2026 Model Student Award is an honor that I will always remember. Thank you for everything!”
