Oof. You know what? This year has really not been my favorite. 😂 It’s been too busy, too stressful, and has contained entirely too much tragedy for one calendar year.
I hadn’t posted or painted since May until just the other day. Partly because I’ve been insanely busy, but also because I realized something:
I kind of hate the whole social media/“build your brand” thing.
Trying to make art while also thinking about algorithms, consistency, content pillars, engagement, posting schedules, and whatever other ritual sacrifices Instagram currently demands is a fantastic way to make painting feel like homework.
So I’m done with that.
From now on, this page is about my art AND whatever else I feel like putting here. No formula. No niche. No content strategy. Just vibes and whatever currently has my brain in a chokehold.
If that means I never become wildly successful on Instagram? Oh well. At least I won’t accidentally turn the thing I love into another chore.
Which brings me to something else I LOVE:
ROCKS.
I friggin love rocks. 🪨
I’ve loved them since I was a kid, and over the last couple years I’ve gotten way more into rockhounding and have now reached the perfectly reasonable stage of stopping every ten feet because “WAIT LOOK AT THIS ONE.”
So here are some gorgeous friggin rocks I found in South Dakota, which may have also become my favorite place because apparently all I need to be happy is dramatic scenery and permission to stare at the ground for several hours.
And I wanna go back sooooo baddddd.
