You’re officially invited to the Moscow Film Society’s 4th Birthday Party! Enjoy a free screening of MIDSOMMAR on Wednesday, May 6 at 7 PM (to make up for our canceled screening due to technical issues)! But that’s not all… we’ve got movie trivia, poster sale, cake (duh), and a bunch of other awesome stuff lined up. Doors open at 6:15 PM so you can arrive a little early to eat some cake, buy some posters, play some trivia and hang out. See you there!

Moscow Film Society presents MIDSOMMAR as part of their Creeping Dread series. A couple travels to Northern Europe to visit a rural hometown’s fabled Swedish mid-summer festival. What begins as an idyllic retreat quickly devolves into an increasingly violent and bizarre competition at the hands of a pagan cult. Ambitious, impressively crafted, and above all unsettling, Midsommar further proves writer-director Ari Aster is a horror auteur to be reckoned with.

Moscow Film Society presents AUDITION as part of their Creeping Dread series. One of the most infamous, impactful, and gut-wrenching Japanese horror films ever made! A recent widower and film producer stages fake movie auditions to find a new wife, becoming enchanted with a mysterious young woman whose charm hides something far more unsettling. With Audition, Takashi Miike delivers a nerve-shredding exploration of male fears and the myth of submissive Japanese women, shocking audiences worldwide with its slow-burn build and white-knuckle finale while helping spark a new wave of Asian horror. Japanese with English subtitles.

Moscow Film Society presents DON’T LOOK NOW on April 21 at 8 PM as part of their Creeping Dread series. A married couple travels to Venice after a family tragedy, where the city’s elegant decay gives way to a series of inexplicable, terrifying, and increasingly dangerous experiences. A masterpiece from Nicolas Roeg, adapted from a story by Daphne du Maurier, is a brilliantly disturbing tale of the supernatural, as renowned for its innovative editing and haunting cinematography as for its naturalistic eroticism and its unforgettable climax and denouement—one of the great endings in horror history.
