This week our ELEM Drawing classes did an Art History/Artist Study on Dutch painter Pete Mondrain and his highly recognized style using straight black lines, white spaces, and 3 primary colors.

He became a pioneer of abstract art, which uses colors, shapes, and lines instead of trying to look like real-life objects.

He almost never used diagonal lines; he preferred horizontal lines (going side to side) and vertical lines (going up and down) to create balance and harmony.

He believed that red, yellow, and blue were the purest colors because you can mix them to make other colors, but you cannot make them by mixing.

Surprisingly, Mondrian often painted his famous black lines freehand without using a ruler!

We borrowed his "style" to create our "Cats: Hiding in Plain Sight".

Enjoy the work from a few of our featured artists from:
Creating JOY studio in the Morrow Arts Center,
Miami Twp. Civic Center, Mason Community Center, and Liberty Bible Academy.
