Customer Spotlight: Liv in her Dot Top

Liv came in wearing her Dot Top by P1.zip, and it’s so good! She used Duo by Sandnes Garn in the colors 6033 Blue Jean and 2564 Monk’s Robe.

The top has an optical illusion polka dot pattern that’s created using a shadow knitting technique. As you move, the dots become more or less visible.

Projects like this remind me why making your own clothes is just the best. You can create something really unique that you couldn’t find in a store!

New yarn from Sandnes Garn: Atlas

With sweater season just around the corner, we’re excited to have this one in the shop. Atlas is a worsted-weight yarn made from 70% Norwegian lambswool and 30% merino wool. It has a lovely balance of warmth, softness, and structure, making it a great choice for sweaters and cardigans.

I’ve been seeing lots of PetiteKnit patterns written for this yarn, so I thought I’d share a few of my favorites for some inspiration: the Hannah Jacket, Saga Sweater, Petra Jacket, Hannah Sweater O-neck, and Hannah Sweater V-neck.

You all have been loving sashiko, so we decided to bring in some new supplies!

New sashiko and mending books that are filled with lots of inspiration and techniques

Hand-poured beeswax blocks, which are traditionally used for sashiko and hand sewing. It helps smooth and strengthen thread, as well as reduces tangling

New yarn and a new brand at the shop! Noro Madara is here, and we brought in Sake 01.

We’ve had so many requests for this yarn, especially this color, so we figured we’d better get it in! It’s a wool, silk, and alpaca blend with a single-ply construction and little tweedy flecks throughout.

Pictured here is Cait in her Stripe Overload Cardi by Spektakelstrik (minus the stripes). It’s such a great staple fall cardigan. Also pictured are Ozetta’s Lakes Cardigan and PetiteKnit’s Terrazzo Sweater, both made in Madara in Sake 01.

It’s not often that one color of a yarn gets this many requests, but I totally get it with Sake 01. It’s so good!

Next up for our staff introductions is Heather

Heather’s my mother-in-law and the person who taught me how to knit, so having her at the shop means a lot to me. She makes beautiful sweaters and shawls and has such a great eye for color. I’m grateful to have her here to share her knowledge, help people work through projects, and bring her calm, positive energy.

New books just landed at the shop!

A Crochet Year has 20 crochet projects inspired by the changing seasons, with projects for spring, summer, fall, and winter. The photography and pattern inspiration in this book are so great, I keep finding myself flipping through it.

Knits to Wear by Veronika Lindberg (Kutova Kika) has 17 Scandinavian-inspired patterns for sweaters, cardigans, tops, and hats. Lots of wearable pieces with pretty textures, colorwork, and fun details.
