THE GRADUATE
*One Show Only!* Monday, June 29 @ 5:30 p.m.
(PG) (1967) 1 hr. 46 min.

Questionable manners, questionable morals, and unquestionably one of the defining greats of American 60s cinema. Dustin Hoffman’s perfectly stunted and endearingly awkward Benjamin Braddock is the unlikely lothario who finds himself embroiled in a triangle of lust and love with the beautiful Robinson women, a mother-daughter duo played unforgettably by Anne Bancroft and Katharine Ross. This pressure cooker passion play is a darkly funny, deeply thoughtful, and expertly crafted meditation on life, love, and alienation in the modern world.

It is a tale of survival, resourcefulness, and chores that Dad has never heard of. With a cast of comedy all-stars that includes Colin Jost, Kate Berlant, Kumail Nanjiani, Will Forte, & Zach Cherry, to name a few.

MATILDA
*One Show Only!* Satuday, June 27 @ 1:00 p.m.
(PG) (1996) 1 hr. 38 min.

Danny DeVito’s directing chops are matched only by his razor-sharp outfits, pitch-perfect insults, and his (and real-life wife Rhea Perlman’s) dumb-as-nails parenting skills in this classic adaptation of Roald Dahl’s incredible story of finding your own power when the world tells you you’re too small to matter. Matilda (Mara Wilson) is a baby genius born into a family of certified bozos, who send her to school at an absolute meat grinder, only to find new nemeses and unlikely allies as she blossoms into her most powerful self.

In a sweeping survey of American popular music of the 1960s and beyond, one group of studio session musicians set the standard for production genius and mass appeal. In the words Debby Harry (BLONDIE), these are “…the real unsung heroes of all those hit records”, and in the words of Brian Wilson (THE BEACH BOYS), “The Wrecking Crew…were the ones with all the spirit and all the know-how”. Celebrate the pros behind the pop with filmmaker Denny Tedesco and original Wrecking Crew member, Don Randi, in attendance for a fundraiser showing for local nonprofit INFINITE MUSIC.

Join us for a special showing of The Sheep Detectives at the Bay Theatre, hosted by the Morro Bay Yarn Shop and Estero Bay Art & Craft! 🧶🎨🍿

This Crafternoon Movie Event takes place Saturday, May 16 at 1:00 pm.

Tickets are $10 and will be available for purchase only at the Bay Theatre starting at 12:30 pm the day of the event.

The Sheep Detectives is rated PG and runs for 1 hour and 48 minutes. It’s a light, down-to-earth mystery about an unlikely group of small-town detectives, who just happen to be a sheep.

A “crafternoon” showing means the theater will keep the lights up just enough so you can actually see what you’re making while the movie plays. It’s not a class, but a fun place to work on your project and enjoy a movie at the same time. Bring your embroidery, drawing, knitting, crochet, or any small (and non-messy) portable craft, and settle in for an afternoon of making and watching.

Super excited!
