Life drawing and copying a photo are two very different things!

When you draw, you create. You observe, analyze, and understand the form, light, and proportions. You think like an artist and express your own vision.

When you copy from a photo, you simply repeat what you see. It can be a useful exercise, but it doesn’t develop your artistic thinking or creativity in the same way.

At , we focus on learning to draw — not just to copy.

My student applying 2D and 3D concepts in practice. In the last photo he clearly showed the difference between flat and volumetric objects by make the same car in two versions.
Then he went on to make his first plasticine painting where his goal was to apply the correct amount of plasticine and use the right technique on the paper to create a 2D image using his own imagination.
Question for you: Why did my student decide to put a blue stripe in the middle of his artwork? There’s a reason for that 🙂
