A few weeks ago, we took a leap and pulled together Morgantownâs First Annual January Jamboree. The festival was a whirlwind of experiences, from Fri nightâs Musiciansâ Workshop, Satâs Hometown Skate with Al Anderson and Honky-Tonk Show, and Sunâs Gospel Sing: The result was a spirited and inspired music and dance gathering that weâre proud to declare a big success!
We wanted the 3-day festival to celebrate music and togetherness, showcasing people and places that make Morgantown special, while bringing together awe-inspiring musicianship from near and far. Attendees were smiling and had so much fun. They were co-creating music. Dancing. Joining music from the soul. It was an experience rooted in togetherness and âpermission to play.â
Winter gave us some of her coldest days that weekend. But that didnât stop us from exchanging warm hugs with friends coming from Oklahoma, Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania and for a bit of wintery music-fueled fun!
Amy and David would like to express their sincere appreciation to everyone who made the Jamboree a success including our local community organization partners, patron supporters, musicians, and attendees from near and far.
Want to know who it takes to put a festival together? It took a lot of enthusiasm, vision, and our collaboratorsâ ability to say âyesâ to a bunch of half-baked ideas. Hereâs a sample of the fabulous orgs who collaborated generously with us! Andrew White Guitars, The Elks Lodge #411, The Shack Neighborhood House, the Morgantown History Museum, the Scottâs Run Museum, and Visit Mountaineer Country CVB.
Of course we couldnât have had a music festival without the musicians who agreed months in advance to this crazy idea, when all we had were words of agreement and a mutual love for Western Swing and Doo W*p music: Al Anderson, Levi Houston Sanders, Ian Walters, and Ryan Cain.
And the bands could not have sounded so good without the spectacular musicians who came out to make us dance, especially: Matt Jordan, Wes Crawford, Gray Buchanan, Trae Buckner, and Duck.
