HOW TO GLAZE ORNAMENTS - Read for details!
My last post about how to fire ornaments got a lot of love. Folks had questions about how I glaze them, so I made this reel to show you the process.
All my ornaments have a high temperature Nichrome wire embedded in the top when they are made.
I use an opened up paperclip threaded through the wire hook to help dip the ornaments in glaze. This allows me to glaze the whole form without tong marks or fingerprints.
I then hang the ornaments on my wire shelving to let the glaze fully dry, and in the kiln they go!
Check out my last post to see how they get suspended in the kiln.
There is a link to the Hotop Nichrome wire loops I use for the hangers on my Supplies and Materials list in my bio.
Seen here is a Peace Dove Ornament made with one of my drop molds.
