Took a class to learn how to maintain this beauty that ‘s 60 years old! My featherweight came to me through a fiend’s mother-in-law. Her name is Shirley. It got a brand new belt, some oil and it’s ready to stitch some quilts. It was a great class taught by Dave at Twice Nice Sewing Machine Restorations and Laurie Perez

Here are some things I learned:

🪡 I can sew in the dark! Hahaaaa! I wouldn’t recommend it though 🤣 Meaning, there is no on and off button. You plug her in and she’s live! The switch on her was just for the 💡💡
🪡 My machine only take oil - no grease is needed for her.
🪡 I can take covers off, oil it without fear! 🙌🏻
🪡 Save yourself 3rd degree burns by getting an LED lightbulb.
🪡 Taking a class with several of your friends was way more fun than just by yourself ❤️

It’s Saturday! Are you ready to go on a Threadventure with me? It’s week 24 of my stitch journal for 2026. Using the photo as a guide, mark 3 hills with a water soluble pen. Using a perle cotton size 8 (I used EZM2207 Turtle) Backstitch over the lines. Let’s practice a few different embroidery stitches this week. On the bottom hill, mark a line below the Backstitch. Stitch a row each of Palestrina Knots, Whipped Chain Stitches, Coral Stitches and then Basque Stitches. Practice keeping your stitches small and tidy. Using a perle cotton size8 (I used EZ2106 Blush) and a Chenille 24 needle Chain Stitch around the bottom strawberry and stitch a Seed Stitch on the strawberry. Using a EZM2207 and a Chenille 24 needle, Backstitch around the stem, then stitch rows of 2-wrap French Knots on top of the stem.🍓🍓🍓

“Oh Scrap” bags are on the website. We don’t do this very often, but the bin was bursting and we need to make some room! Each bag has 2 pounds of useable scraps. There are a variety of colors, but you can see some teals on top. This is a great way to collect a stash of colors. Click the link in our bio and head over to the website before they are gone.

It’s Saturday and we’ve made it to week 23 of Threadventure! Are you ready for a new prompt and a new page? Using a perle cotton size 8 and a Chenille needle, Backstitch the word “June” on the bottom left hand side of the new page. (This page should be labeled June on the left and July on the right.) I used EZM2201. Using the template in the Facebook group or in the newsletter, trace 3 strawberries on the dull side of freezer paper. Cut out and press to the shiny side down on wool. Stitch to the page. Stay tuned next week. We will add stitches to the strawberries.
