Samantha Buller's love of color completely drives her work. She draws inspiration from Wayne Thiebaud's paint application, color, and composition, as well as Raimonds Staprans's layering techniques. Choosing simplistic objects as her subjects, Samantha creates clean, strong designs that share the spotlight with negative space, letting empty areas speak as loudly as the forms themselves. Her work is a study in restraint and vibrancy working together.

These two works are currently on view in our second floor gallery as a part of our Summer Group Exhibition, now on view until August 30th. 🍐🍳😍

Photographer and educator Allan Barnes uses the antique process of wet-plate collodion to capture coastal landscapes up and down the Pacific Coast Highway. His one-of-a-kind tintypes are developed in a mobile darkroom housed in his 1985 Toyota RV. Invented in 1851, this antique process is celebrated for its high level of detail and potential for interesting imperfections. Barnes' artistic practice has largely been defined by earnestly cataloging forms of the natural world around him. 📸🪾🤩

This new work from exhibited artist Nathanael Gray is a part of his ongoing abstract oceanscapes series. He paints these pieces on location, placing them directly on the ground at the water's edge. Nathanael lets the elements dictate the process, battling wind, sand, and tide until the ethos of the landscape seeps into the work itself. While these works may not be considered landscape paintings in the traditional sense, they stand as artifacts of the landscape under the specific climatic conditions they were created. This work will be on display on the second floor of the gallery as a part of our Summer Group Show, opening Friday, July 11th. See it early and enjoy a drink and light bites at our Sip & Stroll Preview Night on July 10th! 🌊🖼️🖌️
