Traveling during our birthday month has been an absolute blast, but our birthday dessert tour came with a funny trade-off—we had to track every single receipt! 🎂✈️ We’ve officially ranked our top three birthday treats from our recent trip to Grand Teton and Jackson Hole, but we’re leaving it to you to guess which one took the top spot.
From the warm, gooey pizookie and those delightful sugar donuts to the tangy perfection of the key lime pie, it’s been a never-ending birthday celebration. This culinary journey was the perfect complement to our days spent exploring the park—from our foggy morning on the Private Sunrise Tour to the adventurous Snake River float. We’ve officially wrapped up the tour, but the memories (and the extra calories!) will last a long time.

Looking for the perfect lunch spot in Jackson Hole? 🏔️ You have to check out Café Genevieve!
It’s located in a historic 1906 log cabin, so the vibe is super cozy and authentic. A few pro-tips before you go: they are a popular spot and usually wrap up lunch by 2:30 PM, so try to get there early to beat the wait!
We tried a mix of comfort food, including the avocado toast with crispy apple wood smoked bacon. We also ordered the Smoked Trout Nee-swahz—total user error on our part forgetting how salty smoked fish can be! 😅
Make sure you save room for their famous warm donut holes with chocolate sauce—everyone raves about them! Definitely a must-visit when you’re in town. 🍩✨

Grand Teton Day 2 was a total gamble, and honestly? We lost the morning lottery! 😭 We started with the Grand Teton: Private Sunrise Tour ($790). The thick fog was so intense that the peaks were completely invisible, and wildlife was tough to spot—we only saw a few bison in the distance. Our guide, Jeff, did his best to make it educational, showing us beaver dams at Schwabacher Landing and the historic Mormon Row barns while we ate our breakfast of muffins and yogurt. Note: The tour doesn't include park entry fees, so bring your pass; one pass covers 4 people in a vehicle, and others pay $20 each.
After lunch at Cafe Genevieve, we tried our luck again with the Tetons and Snake River Scenic Float Trip ($720). We asked our guide, Dave, for extra excitement, and he definitely delivered! The afternoon fog cleared just enough for us to spot bald eagles and osprey along the 13-mile route. It’s a chill, beginner-friendly float, but make sure to bring a raincoat, waterproof pants, and an Insta360 for those hands-free shots. Even though the weather was a struggle, finishing with a river victory made the day totally worth it!

Starting the Journey: Our Yellowstone & Grand Teton Adventure 🏔️
Planning a trip to Yellowstone and Grand Teton? We just wrapped up an incredible journey from May 17th to the 21st, and I wanted to share how we kicked things off!
We flew into Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport (BZN), which was a fantastic choice. It’s a smaller airport, making it incredibly easy to navigate—no long walks, and getting our bags was a breeze. With flight tickets at about $350 per person, it was a smooth start to our group trip of six. We booked our rental car through Costco, which made the pickup process seamless. Once we loaded up the car, we waited for our friends from Texas to arrive so we could assemble the full crew.
Before heading out, we made a crucial pit stop at Walmart to stock up on snacks and essentials for the fridge. The drive to Grand Teton was scenic and very straightforward. We took our time, enjoyed some stops for bathroom breaks, and arrived comfortably at our lodge by 4:00 PM. It was the perfect way to begin our mountain getaway. The calm before the bear! 🐻 Morning stillness at Rainy Lake turned into an incredible moment when we spotted our second black bear of the trip. The reflection in the water was absolutely perfect.

Yellowstone Day 4 was a total dream! 🏔️✨ We headed into the heart of Lamar Valley for a private wildlife safari with our guide, Mike.
Through the spotting scopes, we got to see grizzly bears, wolves, moose, and huge herds of bison! We also explored the stunning Overhanging Cliff and finished the day soaking in the Yellowstone Hot Springs. 🐺🐻
