This is Nadia our Kinkajou and today she turns 23 years old! Happy Birthday Nadia 🥳

Nadia lives off exhibit however her trainers get to spend time with her. Kinkajou’s are a nocturnal species and are omnivores however since they have carnassial teeth which is a carnivorous trait they are considered one of only two carnivores with a prehensile tail.

This species lives in the rainforest in South America and are a perfect example of animals that we want you to celebrate with us this Saturday for World Rainforest Day! 🌳

Our Jr. Safari Camp kids got to give Clarence our Galapagos Tortoise a sponge bath today. By the looks of it it was a win win for everyone, Clarence really enjoyed his bath. 🛁

This is Nyani, she is one of our Hamadryas Baboons and yesterday for primates class she got a coconut as enrichment.

As part of the Animal Care and Training program, students learn about primates and their behavior to get a better understanding of them for when they get to work with their own primates.

Here at the Teaching Zoo we give all of our animals enrichment on a daily basis to mentally stimulate them and encourage natural behaviors. Baboons are among the smartest non-ape primates. Nyani only took 21 seconds to crack the coconut!🥥

Every zookeeper has one… but what’s actually inside?!

A bait bag is where we keep the rewards and tools we use during animal training sessions. Think of it as a mix between a treat pouch, a toolbox, and a pocket full of animal-approved snacks.

Take a peek inside and see what makes the cut!

🔍 Case closed!

Wildlife Detectives Week was filled with animal encounters, hands-on activities, and plenty of discoveries. From investigating owl pellets to walking a mini horse, meeting an emu, and creating enrichment for our tigers, our campers had a wild time learning about the animal world! 🐾

Summer Camp is officially sold out for 2026! ☀️ Looking ahead to next year? The best way to secure a camp spot is with a Family Membership, which includes early access to Summer Camp registration, special events, and more!

From capybaras to spider monkeys, this field trip had it all! 🐾✨

Our class spent the day exploring Zoo To You and meeting some amazing animal ambassadors along the way. Every visit is a chance to learn something new, make memories with classmates, and get inspired by the incredible animals we hope to work with in the future. Thank you Zoo to You!

Tongue Out Tuesday 😋

Not all of our animals got the memo… but the ones who did understood the assignment!

From tiny bleps to full-on tongue displays, today’s stars were caught sticking their tongues out for the camera (or maybe they were just thinking about treats). Which tongue-out photo is your favorite? 👇
